A fantastic cottage ! It had everything we needed . Plenty of room for our family of 5 and dog . Well equipped and beautiful surroundings . Quiet and peaceful.A great base for lots of local hiking with beautiful scenery - local waterfalls and walking routes were great . We will visit again !

Beautiful and peaceful cottage! Kitchen fully equipped which was lovely. The sauna was a plus.We struggled finding long walks from the cottage. The signs were a bit confusing or rotten in the floor and ended up walking in wet lands. Not very safe for our ankles. The old mine is very interesting.

Lovely cottage with spectacular views. You can walk straight onto a public footpath. Did a few walks out and about too and theres lots to chose so its a fab base.Bed was comfy which we usually struggle with. Cottage was well equipped, towels, soap/washing up liquid, dishwasher, etc so only really need to take food. Lots of blankets and things to keep you warm. The downside is there is no TV. says patchy but there isn't any signal. They have netflix and prime aslong as you have Internet. We had a day with no Internet and there is no phone signal. Plenty of board games and books available but if you just want to watch films and the Internet goes you are better downloading to a tablet which we did.Didnt use anywhere local other than spa/petrol station at Alston. Couldn't park for co op so penrith was the closest town for food (we went to aldi).
