The centre of Kendal, with its marvellous shopping facilities and cobbled lanes with pavement cafes and great restaurants, is just 3 miles away, while nearby Kirkby Lonsdale and Cartmel, with its famous annual horse race meetings, are both worth a visit. With Lake Windermere just a short drive, and the coastal resorts of Arnside and Grange-over-Sands within easy reach, this wonderful romantic New Hutton cottage has plenty to offer.
The small hamlet of New Hutton, set in lovely countryside, makes a quiet and convenient base for getting to know both the southern Lakes and the Yorkshire Dales. There is plenty to see and do in this popular holiday area, with both Sizergh Castle and Levens Hall, with its impressive topiary gardens nearby, as well as the town of Kendal, with its castle, art gallery and shops and restaurants set off cobbled streets. The walking in this area is superb, including limestone escarpments offering gentle walks and thrilling views of the Lakeland Mountains, the Howgills and Morecambe Bay.

Graham and Julie were extremely helpful, welcoming, and always happy to assist whenever needed. The location was quaint and wonderfully peaceful, with the cottage surrounded by sheep and cows, which really added to the charm. The only downside, which we were already aware of when booking, is that the roads arenât really designed for pedestrians, so itâs not ideal for getting to places without a car. That said, this was only a minor consideration for us. Itâs just the walk to the station, and once youâre at Oxenholme, the connections are good. From there, you can easily get to Kendal, Windermere, and beyond â the world is your oyster. Overall, we had a fantastic stay. We would absolutely recommend this cottage and would happily stay again!

Our hosts, Julie & Graham couldnt have been more helpful, and provided lots of info about the local shops, restaurants, amenities, including walks. The accommodation is comfotable, and well equipped if guests want to prepare there own meals.
