Providing wheelchair users with independence, this hideaway offers purposely designed wet room, electric bed, and moveable kitchen units.

Converted from the original hay barn in 2023, this delightful property boasts comfortable accommodation for six guests, and is perfect for relaxing after a day spent exploring the sights of Cumbria, or villages and market towns of the Yorkshire Dales National Park, including Hawes in Wensledale and Reeth in Swaledale. Recline and unwind on the window seat in the kitchen, as you watch the sheep graze, or take a picnic and spend the evening watching the sunset over the fell just behind the barn.
Canny Grouse Barn welcomes guests into the spacious hallway, which leads to the impressive open-plan living showcasing exposed stonework and beamed ceiling. The ground floor bedroom features an adjustable electric super-king size bed (that can be converted into twin beds on request), a wheelchair accessible dressing table, and low level hanging space. Expertly designed, the wet room features two sinks of differing heights for electric or manual wheelchair users, a raised WC, and grab rails. Each of these rooms have widened doorways to accommodate wheelchair users. The kitchen has movable units for under worktop access to the hob and sink area, allowing ample room. From here, bi-fold doors enable smooth, direct access out onto the enclosed patio seating area. The ground floor accommodation and its surroundings have been curated with wheelchair users in mind, providing a reassuring and relaxing stay in a tranquil setting.
Upstairs on the first floor, two further bedrooms (a super-king which can be converted into twin beds on request and a king) with en suites are presented, and there is a snug for those seeking some quiet time. For the younger generation, there is an old style Xbox with games to enjoy.
Outside, there is a covered parking area, and a covered main entrance. A dog wash and cleaning area with hot and cold running water is great for rinsing off walking boots and bikes. Secure bike storage with electric sockets is available. Immersed in the sights and sounds of the countryside, the patio offers seating for six guests.

A beautiful cottage finished to the highest standard. Kitchen equipped with a full range of high quality utensils. A huge variety of walks straight from the cottage from gentle riverside strolls into Kirby Stephen or hikes up onto the moors. All this and a delightful pub just down the road

Beautiful accommodation , lovely surroundings and wonderful owners who were at hand if needed We enjoyed exploring the area but also enjoyed relaxing, just taking in the peaceful views from the kitchen window over the farm and animals A perfect place for wheelchair users and able bodied people alike, everything you could wish for being accommodated for. A large welcome pack including a homemade cake was a welcome surprise and treats for our dog as well The separate enclosed field was a bonus for exercising our dog and with the terrain hopper I was able to join other members of the family to do that Certainly the best wheelchair accessible holiday home that we've been to

Our second visit to this beautiful property. Paul and Andrea are so welcoming, the cake was 10/10! We love exploring this area and coming home to this amazing house at the end of a long day of walking was just perfect. Will definitely be back one day.
