The Larches is a charming and spacious cottage, ideal for family gatherings and group stays. Guests consistently praise its peaceful location, beautiful gardens, and well-equipped kitchen. The property blends traditional character with modern comforts, offering ample space and a cosy atmosphere. The short walk to Kirkby Stephen and local attractions is a highlight, as is the friendly community. While the narrow entrance bridge and occasional minor maintenance issues are noted, these do not detract from the overwhelmingly positive experience. The cottage is highly recommended for a relaxing countryside retreat.
Most guests found the property very clean, with spotless main areas and well-maintained bedrooms and bathrooms. A few mentioned minor dust and cobwebs in less-used areas, suggesting a deep clean could be beneficial, but overall cleanliness was excellent.
The location is frequently described as peaceful, idyllic, and within easy walking distance of Kirkby Stephen and local amenities. The only minor drawback mentioned is the narrow entrance bridge, but guests quickly adapt and appreciate the tranquil setting.
Guests highlight the comfortable beds, spacious rooms, and cosy atmosphere. The cottage accommodates large groups well, and the garden is enjoyed by both adults and children. Occasional comments about room temperature and the need for an extra shower were noted but did not significantly impact comfort.
The cottage is praised for its well-equipped kitchen, modern appliances, and ample space for groups. Facilities such as the large kitchen, utility room, and garden are appreciated. Minor issues included a missing microwave, a non-working electric fire, and a suggestion for an additional shower.
There are no specific mentions of welcome gifts or extra thoughtful touches in the reviews, so a score cannot be provided for this category.

Great place once you get use to the bridge. The garden was lovely at this time of year.

We love our stay at the Larches. We have been 3 times now and its such a lovely stay each time. This year we noticed some new additions with new comfy sofas and an extra large TV. The larches is the perfect base for trips round Cumbria and Yorkshire and the house itself is just so cute but big enough for 10 of us. Thanks guys...hope to stay again soon ***
