Hawes 7.3 miles. Nestled in the small hamlet of Garsdale, up a peaceful lane, is this secluded cottage, Garth Gill. This detached cottage overlooks the Garsdale Valley and is ideal for families and friends, enjoying a traditional décor with homely furnishings throughout. Locate the kitchen where the house chef can impress with a home-cooked dish, assisted by the range master cooker with induction hob. Wander through to the living/dining room where everyone can gather for a tasty supper before retiring to the sofa whilst the woodburner crackles in the background. Discover the utility room where a washing machine allows for a freshen up of the wardrobe. Whisk yourself off upstairs and choose between three attractive bedrooms; there are two doubles and a twin with beautiful views to the front and rear. Start the day with a rejuvenating rinse in the shower room before popping on your walking boots and heading for the door. Escape the interior to the tranquil garden where you can appreciate a moment of peace and quiet. If you fancy a night away from the kitchen, two miles away is the popular Moorcock Inn, serving a ranging menu with a choice of ales. Hawes is a popular market town in North Yorkshire's Richmondshire region and a tourism hotspot in Yorkshire Dales National Park. The town is a good base for exploring Wensleydale, Swaledale, Cotterdale, Dentdale, Garsdale, Wharfedale, and Chapel-le-Dale. Walk the Hawes Town Trail, Millennium Walk, Pennine Way, or River Ure. Hawes won "Best Day Trip" from the English Tourist Board in 1998. Modern traffic has replaced coaches and horse-drawn waggons on its small streets, but market day (Tuesdays) in Hawes is as busy as ever, with a farmers' auction bringing sheep farmers from throughout northern England. Traditional stores, cafés, and inns serve Dales visitors and locals. The award-winning Wensleydale Creamery, made famous by Wallace and Grommit, is now open to guests who can see the cheese being made and sample it in a café. National Park Centre and Dales Countryside Museum are in the old station yard. Marie Hartley and Joan Ingilby collected Dales artefacts for the Museum.

Welcome hamper was very generous and thoughtful. The kitchen is extremely well equipped and the bedrooms are very spacious with comfortable beds. The whole cottage is very clean throughout and has a very "homely" atmosphere. This was our second stay here in the last 2 years and we look forward very much to staying here again.

Really enjoyed the log burner. A nice welcome basket too. The place has a commanding view of the dale and it was lovely to sit outside with a cuppa and take it all in. Peace and quiet. The i/net is very fast for those who need.
