This semi-detached cottage has been beautifully presented, with the owner taking great care to ensure that the property maintains all of its charm and character, whilst at the same time providing all contemporary and comfortable features of a holiday home.
Situated within 2 acres of natural land, and enjoying an elevated patio area, this property is deceptively spacious. On the ground floor is a cosy living room with wood burner, where guests can snuggle down with a glass of wine in the evening. There is also a charming kitchen/dining room with handmade units, original quarry tiled floor and an oil fired Aga. To the rear of the property is a conservatory, which is the ideal place to retreat to for a quiet read. Upstairs are three beautifully co-ordinated bedrooms, and a contemporary family bathroom. Perfect for a night in after a busy day exploring this extensive location, all the TVs come pre-loaded with music, over 300 movies to watch and are wired for guests to have fun when they bring their own Playstation or Xbox.
Narrowgates Cottage is located on the edge of the village of Barley, which is within the Forest of Bowland, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The village has two good pubs, a café, children’s playground and picnic area. Barley is situated close to Pendle Hill and is a popular starting point for walkers who want to follow in the footsteps of the famous Pendle Witches. With many cycle routes available from the doorstep, and a bike rack at the property, this holiday home is every outdoor enthusiasts dream. Surrounded by beautiful Lancashire countryside, it is the ideal base from which to explore the Ribble Valley with its stunning scenery, pretty villages and welcoming country pubs. The bustling market town of Clitheroe, which is considered to be the capital of the Ribble Valley District, is just 8 miles away and in addition to its Norman castle it also offers a good selection of shops, bars and restaurants.
Walking and cycling are two of the main activities that bring visitors to this picturesque area, but there is also golf and fishing within a short drive. Thanks to its proximity to the M65 and M6, this also makes a good base for a touring holiday. The Lake District, Yorkshire Dales National Park and the Fylde Coast, whose popular resorts include Blackpool, Morecambe and Lytham St Annes, are all within an hour’s drive. Shop 4 miles, pub and restaurant 500 yards.

Thoughtfully decorated & comfortably appointed cottage with everything you could need. The welcome pack for both the humans and canines are top-notch. Location is great, close to two fabulous pubs, with The Barley Mow serving amazing food. Will definitely be back.

The most beautiful cottage situated in a small hamlet beside a small river . Pendle hill and surrounding walks all accessible from the cottage. We never needed the car all week. Very good pubs/restaurants/ cafe in the village. The cottage has everything you could ever need and is furnished to a very high standard. Warm, cosy and very welcoming. We were welcomed with a very generous hamper including everything you need for a few hearty breakfasts, a lovely fruit basket, wine and sweet treats. We had our dog with us and he was welcomed with doggie treats and a lovely toy which he treasured all week. All essentials for him was also provided, bowls, poop bags, towels for drying him after long muddy walks. The owners are exceptional hosts and communications were excellent. Angela who looks after the cottage was equally exceptional . An amazing team with an amazing property. We would definitely recommend and will be back.

Lovely house in a beautiful small village. The house was fantastic and very atmospheric and we loved the "old" feel to it although it also had equipment such as TV/Sky in every room and a beautiful AGA oven. Also a lovely huge enclosed rear garden, excellent for our dog, and great seating areas.The village was quiet even with two good pubs which are only minutes to get to. There was also a very handy cafe open in daytime hours. One omission however is the lack of a village shop for convenience but that isn't a huge problem with surrounding towns and villages. Overall a great holiday venue and we thoroughly enjoyed it.
