The outside hot tub area was untidy. The children’s games room and tower were awful, old tatty furniture not somewhere you’d want to sit. There was rubbish all around the church - some on the council owned graveyard and some on the church property. There were parts of the property that were apparently out of bounds but not fenced off. The unkept council graveyard also made the whole place look terrible from the outside. The cinema, pool room and gym were brilliant and the bedrooms comfortable though the master bedroom had no curtains so it was lovely and light at 5am. We had contacted cottages.com but got no replay and the owner fibbed us off

This holiday home is an absolute masterpiece and beauty with a blend of historic architecture and modern comfort, converted from a massive chapel into a picturesque abode, making it the most ideal destination for families looking for a memorable stay in the heart of the steep-sided valleys of Rossendale. We spent a lovely week in the Old Church, and it was a memory to savor for life. It is a clean and well-maintained five-bedroom home with spacious living areas for celebrations and socializing. We had so many amenities and facilities to enjoy during our stay, including a hot tub, a massive fully fitted kitchen, Wi-Fi, heating, a gym, a cinema, a library, and other games like tennis and snooker. The serenity of the environment along with its beautiful landscape makes the Old Church a lovely holiday home. Also, it is close to the local shops for your shopping and outing and has some amazing places to visit like we did, including the Singing Tree, trails for hikers, nature reserves, and other historical sites. We are more than delighted to say we received more than our money's worth staying in the Old Church and would gladly return to it again and again and again and again and again. This is one of our most loved holiday destinations as a family.

The building and location were lovely. The cleanliness was not good at all. Had to scrub the kitchen sides and wash the pans before we used them. One pan had crusted old food in it. There were crumbs amongst the cutlery, the grill was also unclean. As we begun to use the hob, a lot of old fat dripped out of the extractor fan filters which is an enormous fire hazard. I slacked the filters in hot water and let them drip dry as best I could, as well as scrubbed the melted fat off the cooker hood itself. The towels smelt of cooking fat so I’m not sure where they are being laundered. My kids white socks were black underneath within an hour of being there. I know socks don’t stay white but this was extreme. Meaning the floors were obviously unclean. I also needed to vacuum the kitchen and scrub some sticky parts off the floor. I was very tempted to contact the host or cottages.com at the time. However I chose to let this go as I wanted to enjoy my time rather than use my break complaining and having to communicate with people about the property. There was also significant white thick growing mould in the third floor games room which is a health hazard. We didn’t use that room. I believe the host is probably attentive. But the cleaning isn’t suitable at all.
