An immaculate, brick-built former farm building on the owners' arable farm on the edge of the pretty village of Bispham Green, ten miles from the genteel seaside resort of Southport. It has been tastefully furnished and decorated. The mezzanine bedroom is lovely and the bed very comfortable. There are some lovely features :- open brickwork walls ; beams ; wooden floor and a delightful decorated round window upstairs. However the ground floor bedroom lacks privacy and looks straight out onto a stable yard. Also early morning noise from the horse(s) meant disturbed sleep. The road at the front of the cottage is busy. The cottage adjoins a rather large run down and ugly building which doesn't give a very good impression. We booked the cottage knowing it was on a working farm but the cottages proximity to the hustle and bustle of daily farming life didn't result in a relaxing or peaceful stay.

Some general maintenance would be required to justify the 5 tick rating currently held on Sykes website. We also had an issue that was reported to the owner mid-stay, and received no response. The property is within easy reach of interesting coastal towns such as Southport and Lytham St Annes. Liverpool is a short train ride from Ormskirk station, and the WWT Martin Mere reserve is a great place to visit for birdwatching.
