About this property

The Shippon is a beautiful detached house resting on a working farm on the outskirts of Burscough, with charming character features, a garden, and easy access to local amenities, making it an ideal base for families and friends exploring Lancashire. Park up and be welcomed into this delightful property, with handcrafted windows, doors and stairs adding to its character, and an open-plan living space where tasteful décor melds seamlessly with traditional features. Exposed brick detailing adds warmth to the space, while the well-equipped kitchen provides everything needed to prepare delicious meals, which can enjoyed together around the oak dining table, surrounded by ornate real wood furnishings that continue throughout the kitchen, living space and bedrooms.

There is also a handy utility room. The living/dining space welcomes groups to enjoy mealtimes together, or curl up beside the open fire with a good book. When sleep calls, you have your choice of four beautiful bedrooms, each one with vaulted ceilings threaded with wooden roof beams, Velux windows, and its own character and charm. The bedrooms comprise two doubles, a king-size with an en-suite shower room and largewalk-in wardrobe, and a twin, served by a contemporary shower room. Outside, the garden provides a lovely spot for alfresco dining, with a French farmhouse-style table and chairs set amongst mature trees, creating an attractive space in which to unwind and enjoy the relaxing farm setting.

There is so much to explore with a memorable stay at The Shippon. Note: This property can be booked with ref. 1208452, sleeping up to 12 guests.

Nestled within West Lancashire in the North West of England, to the north of Ormskirk and Skelmersdale, lies Burscough. This quaint village is home to Hamlet of Talscough and Burscough wharf, along with many amenities including several pubs and restaurants, a convenience store and a supermarket. The Leeds and Liverpool canal passes through the parish, along with the Southport to Wigan and the Preston to Liverpool rail lines. The surrounding area is best explored on foot or bike, particularly along the beautiful Leeds Liverpool Canal and the Wetlands and Waterways walk, which starts at Burscough Bridge railway station and loops you around some of the flattest land in West Lancashire. If you’re seeking family friendly activities, Burscough is also home to the Wildfowl and Wetland Trust's reserve at Martin Mere, a marshland refuge and nature reserve of international importance, which offers year-round attractions.
