About this property

Nestled in the beautiful Lancashire countryside, between the Lake District and the Yorkshire Dales, Plover is one of five safari tents set in a wonderfully quiet corner of Forest of Bowland. Peaceful, unspoilt and wonderfully remote, with winding lanes, working farms, open fells and endless views, it’s the kind of place where you instantly switch off and, before you know it, you’ve settled into the quiet and are simply enjoying the moment. The fresh air we all need. With nature all around, wildlife to spot and even the River Brock passing by, it's a natural adventure playground for family and friends to explore and enjoy together.

Each tent at our Lantern & Larks locations, accommodates six guests across three bedrooms. There is one king size room, one twin room and one bunk bedroom. Inside, there is an open plan living area with a spacious kitchen featuring a double gas hob, a dining table, a comfortable seating area and a wood-burning stove. Each tent also has private facilities with running water, as well as its own outdoor seating area with a firepit and unlimited logs included. Our sites are off-grid, and we provide rechargeable lanterns and hot water bottles to keep you cosy in the evenings - though it’s always worth packing for a little bit of everything when it comes to British weather.

About Bleasdale

Our Bleasdale Lantern & Larks glamping site sits above a private stretch of the River Brock, which is always a favourite with families. Children can spend hours paddling in the water, building dams, spotting sticklebacks or exploring along the riverbank.

Behind the tents, there’s also woodland to wander through, with plenty of space for den building, running around and getting outdoors. There’s also an open grassy area near the tents where children can play football, run around or enjoy outdoor games. Many guests bring a kite or garden games with them, especially when there’s plenty of space to make the most of it. We also keep a selection of board games in the honesty shop for guests to borrow during their stay.

From your tent, you can head straight out into the Forest of Bowland using the local footpath network. There’s a stone circle around a 20-minute walk away and beyond that, plenty of walking routes across the Bowland Fells. It’s a very peaceful part of Lancashire, with open views, quiet country lanes and very little traffic, ideal for walking, cycling or simply spending time outside. Cycle to the nearby Beacon Fell Country Park from your tent, or to the pretty village of Chipping with its pubs, cafes and ice cream shop! If this seems a little hard work, there is a business hiring electric bicycles located on the estate.

Bleasdale is also well placed for exploring both the Yorkshire Dales and the Lake District. A day trip to Windermere is always worth it. It can be lively, especially in summer, but there’s something incredibly calming about it, whether that’s for a boat trip on the lake, a walk by the water or a relaxed stop for lunch before heading back.

After a day exploring, you can return to the quiet of your tent, light the firepit and settle in for the evening. Outdoor meals around the firepit, watching the sunset with a drink or two in hand, are all part of what makes staying here feel so special.

There are local horse-riding centres close by and they specialise in taking riders on treks round the local riding network. Or take a cruise on the Lancaster canal from the Barton Grange Garden Centre – only 10 minutes away.

Phone signal can be patchy in places, but before long you stop noticing. You will be too busy with the firepit, cooking outside, spotting wildlife, playing by the river, or simply sitting still and enjoying. And somewhere in amongst it all, you remember you don’t really need it.

The local wildlife can be stunning with everything from glimpses of deer in the valley below your tents to the famous "sky dancer" or hen harrier on the fells above you. Bowland Wild Boar Park is a 20-minute drive away, and for those keen on catching the local wildlife, there are several fishing lakes in the area, ranging from pike and perch to trout and salmon.

Bleasdale is a beautiful site. It is a great place to see wildlife and relax with family and friends. Booking the site was easy via the website. Arrival information with directions to the site was clear. The safari tents are spacious and comfortable. Tip: if the weather is going to be windy/stormy, take some ear plugs because it will be loud. The dawn chorus is also the loudest I have heard in a long time

We had a wonderful weekend glamping in Bleasdale. This is an amazing site with everything that you need. The area was beautiful and the tents were amazing. We are used to camping in our own tent so this felt luxurious! I would highly recommend this to anyone! It was expensive for us but we do hope to save up and go again at some point.
