About this property

The current Ashbourne Hall is modern compared with the original medieval house. Dating from the 1780s, this spacious Georgian manor overlooks Ashbourne Park and sleeps 22 guests in 10 luxurious bedrooms. It's ideal for a holiday with your extended family, hen parties, and work functions. The property is on the edge of the Peak District, a short stroll from Ashbourne's superb bars and restaurants.

Ashbourne Hall is not an average self-catering holiday home. The property is directly opposite Ashbourne Park - something children and canine guests appreciate - and only a short walk from the centre of the historic market town with shops, cafes, restaurants and other amenities. Ten beautifully decorated bedrooms comfortably accommodate up to 22 guests, providing group accommodation for hosting a family reunion, hen weekend, intimate wedding party or rehearsal dinner, or other special celebration. Despite its grand size, Ashbourne Hall's welcoming feel will put you and your guests at ease when you arrive.

Ashbourne is delightful. Narrow lanes, Georgian shopfronts and Tudor homes allow you to feel a part of its impressive history. Wander around winding streets, admiring more than 200 listed properties, including the Grade I listed Old Grammar School and the marketplace. Ashbourne was used to house Napoleonic prisoners of war, one of whom provided the recipe for Ashbourne Gingerbread, which has been sold in what is now Birds Bakery for over 200 years. If you don't want to self-cater or arrange for a private chef, Ashbourne has a great choice of places for dining and drinking.

Make the most of having the traffic-free Tissington Trail on your doorstep to discover Dovedale and the Peak District on foot or by bicycle. If you have enough energy or want to put all that delicious gingerbread to good use, keep going to link up with the Pennine Bridleway. Alternatively, have fun and arrange for activities like archery, a mobile climbing wall, bushcraft skills, a high ropes course, and an exhilarating zip wire.

The Peak District is packed with attractions to suit everyone. Chatsworth House is easily a full day out with the house and its magnificent collections, expansive gardens, parkland, a farm, and a play area. Poole and Blue John Caverns are perfect wet-weather attractions, and guests of all ages love stepping back in time at Crich Tramway. Alton Towers is about half an hour's drive away, and you can hire the pool at Ashbourne leisure centre for your private use. More suggestions include Gulliver's Travels, Monkey Forest, Haddon Hall, and the Heights of Abraham.
