Bradley Hall is a well-loved, characterful cottage praised for its spaciousness, comfort, and well-equipped kitchen. The beautiful gardens, hot tub, and proximity to local pubs enhance the experience. It's an ideal base for walking and exploring Derbyshire, with some minor cleanliness and maintenance issues noted.
Most guests found Bradley Hall to be welcoming and comfortable, though some noted issues with dust, bathroom mould, and kitchen cleanliness. These were minor compared to the overall positive feedback, but they did impact the perception of cleanliness for a few guests.
The location is highly praised for its picturesque setting, easy access to local pubs, and proximity to walking routes and attractions. The village of Matlock and the surrounding Derbyshire countryside offer a lovely backdrop for a holiday.
Guests consistently mention the comfort of the beds and the homely feel of the house. The spacious bedrooms and living areas contribute to a comfortable stay, although some guests noted that lounge seating could be tight for larger groups.
The property boasts a range of facilities including a well-stocked kitchen, hot tub, and garden features like a BBQ and pizza oven. Some maintenance issues were mentioned, such as slow showers and a need for more attention to detail, but overall, the facilities were appreciated.
While guests have expressed appreciation for the property and its amenities, there are no specific mentions of gifts or special touches from the hosts that would fall under the category of thoughtfulness. Therefore, a score cannot be provided.

Bradley hall is a late 18 th century house, as such it has a shabby chic homely vibe, it has central heating and plenty of hot water. There are open fires in the dining and sitting room but you have to provide your own fuel if you want more than one nights fire lit. The garden is nice and boasts a fire pit area and a gas barbecue hot tub ( compact) and Table and seating . You need flip flops and a gown for the hot tub. Fuel not included for Barbie/ fire pit ( available locally we told.)(Third) Top floor shower room and loo two bedrooms one small double no wardrobe , homes a dolls house and a large family room . Cot bed / fold up bed easily fits for families and there’s a large settee wardrobe and a tele. ( we didn’t use), chest with toys. second floor twin bedroom with wardrobe and rocker and large bedroom with sofa and wardrobe and across the hall a large Bathroom with bidet , loo, roll top style bath and large shower. Towels provided - big bath and hand per person. Only hand wash provided no shower gel or shampoo’s. Toilet rolls 2 per bathroom approx. Only one hairdryer. There is a washing machine in the cellar and an interesting closet loo. Ground floor boot room with small fridge and separate freezer . Wardrobe containing vacuum , dustpan, feather dusters, mop. Basket with binoculars and maps , dvds and birdseed for the garden feeder. Sitting room and a separate dining room. Kitchen- gas hob and electric oven range style, plenty of equipment, and pantry cupboard. Bread bin, dishwasher , three bins - glass, rubbish and dry recycling, take a couple extra bin bags , dish and cloths washing tabs. Take cling film/ food bags / baking parchment and tinfoil and kitchen towels paper roll and t towels if you want them. 2 t towels left washing up liquid and some dishwasher/ washing machine stuff left enough for weekend. Fridge and pod coffee maker, radio, microwave , kitchen has extraction but open back window if cooking for condensation build up. Walks locally from house, Tesco delivers locally we noted, not fat from Matlock and Bakewell. Great pub open Thurs - Sunday - Red Lion , great food gluten free beer and veg option on menu. ( own brew house) Second pub The Druid just reopened , not clear on opening hours but had nice soup and good pint there on a Monday. Driveway of house a bit tight fits two cars but more parking 1 minute away. Take care - we scraped our car door. You will be required to pay a deposit before arrival but repaid same day we left . Thanks Rob. Had we been at a warmer time of year we would have wanted to sit out in the garden and use fire pit/ Barbie but too much effort to actually organise fuel for a weekend/ week . Should be provided if you are advertising it on the site ie a spare gas cylinder available. The hot tub would be a squeeze for more than six adults, four is comfy and perfectly hot enough at 37 degrees, a lovely feature. Lovely starry skies at night and house itself has lovely ambience. FYI Small general store /post office in Winster very well stocked inc gluten free stuff and good pubs, we tried the Miners standing when ‘The Red Lion’ closed - it was good food. Home owners and housekeeper very amenable and helpful. Overall we would highly recommend but in winter you need the heating on continually as it’s an old house and whilst the air temp is good it can be drafty and the walls get cold and subject to condensation so. Bathrooms and kitchen need airing after use. Lastly - would go back.

Absolutely loved this property. Slept well in comfy beds. So quiet and dark at night, with fields at the end of the garden. Hot tub was perfect, even when the temperature was zero degrees- remember your flip flops and dry robe. Well appointed kitchen. Two bathrooms, one on each of the bedroom floors. Two massive bedrooms, and two cosier ones. One room has twins, and it sleeps 8 in total. Visiting beauty therapist does massage and facial, and she was lovely. Two pubs in walking distance, we tried the Red Lion- fantastic Sunday roast. Lots of walks on the doorstep, or towns like Matlock and Bakewell a few minutes in the car. Convenient for Chatsworth and Haddon Hall. We are definitely returning. Hosts communication is excellent and the property was spotless. Highly, highly recommended. Although a bit reluctant to share how good, in case we can’t get in again!

Bradley Hall was everything we were hoping for. It was well equipped and spacious for our party of 8. We loved the quirkiness and the area was lovely for walking. The Red Lion pub is right on the doorstep and all our meals were fantastic.Good communication with owners and information available in the house.
