Guests say

Wutley is a well-renovated, cosy cottage in Youlgreave, praised for its cleanliness, luxurious feel, and excellent location for exploring the Peak District. Guests appreciate the welcoming touches, proximity to local pubs and attractions, and the cottage's charm and decor. While parking can be tricky and the shower space tight for taller guests, the overall experience is highly regarded, with many looking forward to returning.

Guests consistently note the cottage's cleanliness, mentioning it was 'so clean and tidy' upon arrival. The high standard of cleanliness contributes significantly to the luxurious feel of the property.

The cottage's location is frequently praised for being excellent for walks and close to local amenities, Bakewell, and Chatsworth House. The village of Youlgreave is described as charming and friendly.

The cottage is repeatedly described as cosy and comfortable, with a homely feeling. However, a few guests mentioned the shower being a bit tight for taller individuals, which slightly impacts the comfort score.

Reviews highlight the well-equipped nature of the cottage, including a wood-burning stove and a well-appointed kitchen. The high standard of interior finish is also commended. Parking is noted as occasionally difficult, which is considered in the score.

Guests are delighted by the thoughtful welcoming gifts and the overall hospitality, which adds to the charm of their stay. It is politely noted that such gifts, while appreciated, are a gracious bonus and not guaranteed.

About this property

A charming little cottage in the beautiful Peak District village of Youlgreave with its local shops and pubs.

Wutley is a super charming and sweet little cottage set in the picturesque Peak District village of Youlgreave. With low ceilings, exposed stone walls and immaculately decorated, this cosy cottage oozes luxury and class. Relax in the comfortable lounge and warm yourself by the glowing log burning stove. The kitchen is where contemporary meets traditional, with a modern well fitted kitchen and original features such as beautiful stone walls and a stone flagged floor. The bedrooms are just as lovely and cosy, with one comfy double and another single, both with crisp linen and fluffy towels.

Youlgreave is one of the best villages in Derbyshire and traditional at heart. Explore the church, the local pubs and village shops whilst you meander through the secret little alleyways. Take a stroll along the nearby River Bradford where you will be able to spot Kingfishers in the peaceful dale and take in the incredible views of the Peak District hills. The Limestone Way and the White Peak Way both pass through the village and both make excellent walks. Youlgreave is really special, but don’t forget the rest of Derbyshire! Just a short drive away is Bakewell, famous for its delicious Pudding, the Peak Steam Railway, Cauldwell’s Mill and Craft Centre, Haddon hall and of course Chatsworth House.

When it’s time to return back to Wutley, sit in the garden and enjoy a glass of something special before heading to one of the local pubs for a delicious evening meal.

How lucky were we to find this beautiful cottage available for the 3 nights we wanted, and it was yards away from my grandparents' cottage I spent a lot of my childhood and early teens in from the 1940's to the early 60's. Opening the door we walked into a lovely comfortable lounge, so tastefully decorated, as was the rest of the house. A lovely welcome note from the owners and a basket of "goodies", wine, cake, peanuts, biscuits etc was a very kind thought. The equipment was second to none and everything spotlessly clean. Very comfortable beds, you don't get that everywhere ! We were warned about the windy narrow stairs so were well prepared. My husband has some walking difficulties, but we helped him up and down and I found coming down backwards the best way. I am biased as Youlgreave is my roots, but it's a lovely village with fabulous walks, good pubs and food and so many places to visit from there like Bakewell, Matlock, Chatsworth House, Haddon Hall., Robin Hood Stride. The old co-op where I was sent for the shopping, as a child is now a YHA, with a fabulous cafe with great food and drinks at very reasonable prices. Do visit Stanton - in -Peak, near there, for views to die for. I could say more, go and find out for yourself.

A lovely cottage in a great location. My friend and I had such a good time I hope to go with my husband there next year and my friend has already booked again for a winter break.

Lovely compact cottage with all creature comforts..washing machine and a dishwasher! Great location with Bakewell a 10 min drive away and Chatsworth close by. 3 good pubs in the village and a shop plus cafe. No off street parking but not a problem for us . We used the free car park 150m away . All in all great cottage and location and we were blessed with great weather as well !
