Marl Barn is a beautifully renovated cottage offering a high standard of cleanliness, comfort, and tasteful décor. Guests consistently praise the well-equipped kitchen, cosy beds, and modern amenities. The property is easy to find and provides a welcoming atmosphere, with thoughtful touches such as a bottle of wine on arrival (though not guaranteed). Its location is ideal for exploring the Peak District, though a car is necessary due to the main road and lack of nearby footpaths. Occasional road noise and limited secure outdoor space for dogs are noted, but overall, guests thoroughly enjoy their stays.
Cleanliness is repeatedly highlighted as exceptional, with guests describing the property as spotlessly clean, well maintained, and fresh-smelling. No negative comments were made regarding cleanliness.
The location is praised for its proximity to beautiful walks and attractions, but several guests note the need for a car due to the main road, lack of pavements, and no direct walking routes from the cottage. Some mention road noise as a minor drawback.
Guests find the cottage very comfortable, with special mention of the cosy beds, underfloor heating, and relaxing living spaces. A few guests found the beds a little soft for their preference, but overall comfort is highly rated.
Facilities are described as high quality and comprehensive, including a well-equipped kitchen, modern bathroom, and ample parking. Minor suggestions include adding a teapot, draining board, and more local information, but these do not detract from the overall positive experience.
Guests appreciate thoughtful touches such as a bottle of wine and a welcoming atmosphere, though it should be noted these gestures are not guaranteed. Some guests would have liked more information about the local area and a personal welcome.

Marl Barn is beautifully, tastefully, and thoughtfully restored and furnished. It was spotlessly clean with everything you need for a comfortable stay. It's a perfect base for some outstanding walks and hikes. None of the following things spoiled it for us, but it's worth being mindful that if you have a dog there is no secure outside space, and there was a pack of very reactive farm dogs who constantly barked at our dog as we walked past, which made her anxious. You are literally in the yard of a working farm, which is fabulous with very cute goats and donkeys. But, it was very noisy with drilling, a cement mixer, and building work while we stayed. It didn't bother us too much as were out all day and it's likely not a regular occurrence. The property backs onto a fairly busy road which you can hear, but didn't disturb us as we're used to a far busier one where we live. You do have to drive to get anywhere though, even the local pub, as it's a very fast road with no pavements. We really enjoyed our stay and loved exploring the local area which is absolutely stunning. The only things we'd recommend adding are a draining board for the sink and a clothes airer for drying stuff you don't want in the tumble dryer.

We had a lovely time at Marl barn. It was very comfortable and warm with everything we needed (apart from a teapot and a dish drainer!) The barn was very clean and tastefully designed and decorated. Plenty of secure parking space. Loved seeing the farm animals close up. Safe for children but it is on a main road so quite noisy with passing traffic. There is no where to walk to directly from the barn so a car is required. Lots of beautiful places to visit near by such as Sett valley, Millenium walkway, monsal trail, heights of Abraham, Buxton, bakewell, Hathersage swimming pool, Castleton etc Thanks for a great time.
