About this property

This splendid, converted coach house rests in the pretty village of Bradwell, in the heart of the Peak District National Park. Set in a reverse-level style, The Old Coach House is the ideal base for families looking to break away from normality and see what this scenic region has to offer. Enter on the ground floor and discover the bedrooms, including a double and twin, offering a wealth of character and ample storage for your personal belongings. Climb the carpeted stairs to the open-plan living area, featuring a wooden floor with vaulted ceiling and exposed beams, offering a homely ambience to unwind within each evening. Allow the chef of the group to impress in the kitchen, equipped with all the necessities for a short break, while the rest of the group set the dining table with crockery and a bottle of fizz. To the exterior is a small patio area where you can enjoy your morning coffee while you ponder on the day ahead, plus there is an off-road parking space. The pretty village of Bradwell offers three welcoming pubs, ideal if you fancy a night away from cooking, and there’s a supermarket if you need to pick up the essentials. Why not explore one of the many caverns in Castleton, like Treak Cliff Cavern or Blue John Stone before sampling some dairy ice cream from Bradwell's Ice Cream shop, a favourite in the village for over 100 years! Keen walkers will be in heaven whilst roaming the Peak District National Park, offering walks through the stunning valley of Edale, which is the start of the Pennine Way, England’s first and most famous long-distance footpath, and the famous spa town of Buxton. Box off the attractions of the Peak District with a homely stay at The Old Coach House.

Bradwell is a charming town located in the Hope Valley in the Peak District National Park. Tideswell, home to the famed Tideswell church, dubbed the "Cathedral of the Peak," is only four miles from Bradwell. Three miles away is the charming village of Castleton, which is home to intriguing caves such as the Blue John Cavern and is overlooked by the crumbling Mam Tor or 'Shivering Mountain.' Winnats Pass and Edale in the Edale Valley, regarded as the start of the Pennine Way, are close by.

Would be better if the listing stated Bessie Lane as opposed to The Hills. The white goods could do with an upgrade (though trivial, it's difficult to turn the temperature dial on the oven if you have issues with your arm as I do, the fridge/freezer opened on the wrong side and one of the shelves is broken [a smaller one would also take up less room]). The provisions provided on arrival was a lovely touch. Shame one of the windows in the living area was frosted glass and didn't open (however I am sure there is a reason for this). Kitchen utensil/crockery etc. is the best we have seen/used in a cottage, and the layout is well thought-out. The cottage was not cluttered with bits and pieces which improved the whole aesthetics of the living areas (the AA book we found in one of the cupboards was particularly useful). The garden area is tiny (though didn't bother us as it was too wet and windy to sit outside), what would be useful though, is a free standing boot brush/scraper. Bradwell is a pretty little village with all the amenities you need and well worth a visit, a good base to visit the High Peaks. Thank Anita for your attentiveness, prior to our stay.
