The property is noted for its cleanliness, cosy atmosphere, and stunning views. The hosts are commended for their helpfulness and thoughtful touches, contributing to memorable stays. While one review mentioned limited headroom in the attic and a shared outdoor space, the overall sentiment remains overwhelmingly positive.

The location is praised for its stunning walks, proximity to a local pub, and the village's friendly atmosphere. The convenience of a bus stop and reliable local taxis are also appreciated, although one review expressed a slight concern over the outdoor seating area.

Guests find the beds very comfortable and appreciate the blackout blinds for a good night's sleep. The cosy atmosphere and wood burner add to the comfort, with only one review citing discomfort due to limited headroom in the attic.

The cottage is well-equipped with everything guests could want, including a well-stocked kitchen and useful local information. The mention of a shared outdoor seating area suggests a slight limitation in facilities.

The hosts are repeatedly praised for their thoughtfulness, including providing helpful information and accommodating guests' needs. Special touches like a birthday cake are mentioned, enhancing guests' experiences, though it is politely noted that such gestures are not guaranteed.

The house chef can dominate the kitchen, fitted with an electric oven and induction hob, microwave, fridge and even dishwasher, so there’s plenty on-hand to assist with home-cooking. Settle down at the dining table to enjoy a feast, before whisking off to the bathroom to start your nightly routine. When you’re ready to explore, the charming village of Holme is filled with delicious eateries from friendly pubs to well-established restaurants, ideal for when you fancy a night away from the kitchen. This area is a hotspot for walkers, cyclists and wildlife lovers, with the Woodhead and Torside reservoirs nearby, as well as easy access to the Hope Valley via Woodhead Pass and Glossop. Visit the nearby town of Holmfirth, well-known for being the home to the characters of the TV series Last of the Summer Wine, of which you can tour the locations frequently visited throughout the show by vintage bus! Further afield, the scenery of the Peak District should not be missed, where you can enjoy a peaceful picnic and capture some beautiful photos. All this and much more can be enjoyed at 19 The Village.

Holmbridge, a small village in the Holme Valley, is just one mile from Holmfirth, a traditional Pennine market town. A church, a convenience store, a cricket club, and the village's own vineyard are all within a short distance of each other. Holme Moss, one of Britain's most difficult mountain climbs, is located in the immediate vicinity of the village. On the other side of the town of Holmfirth is the renowned Picturedrome venue, which is known for its old stone cottages and winding streets. All year long, the Holme Valley hosts a variety of festivals, including the Festival of Folk (May), the Arts Festival (June), the Food and Drink Festival (September), and a fantastic Music Festival (October). All of these events, as well as the smaller ones like the Yorkshire Film Festival, the Macmillan Art Exhibition, Christmas markets, the Scarecrow Festival and of course the big cycling race "Le Tour De Yorkshire," make this a particularly culturally rich region to visit. As the setting for the long-running comedy series Last of the Summer Wine, the town has become well-known. Skelthwaite, the fictional town from the Where the Heart Is series, is located in the Colne Valley, which is just a short drive away from the Peak District National Park. It is a great starting point from which to explore this fascinating and beautiful part of Yorkshire, which includes the city of Huddersfield as well as the bustling metropolises of Manchester, Leeds, and Sheffield.

My sister and I were looking forward to having a double bed each but we found the stairs up to the attic bedroom steep and the headroom much less then we imagined although it did say at the end of the description limited head room . In fact there was only a metre wide in the centre of the room where you could stand upright . It was impossible to get in and out of bed without banging one’s head unless you stood up sideways ! I gave up after a night and we used the single bedroom downstairs. The pictures of the view from the cottage are beautiful but we didn’t realise that the sitting out area with table is in fact shared with next door and the area we could use was only a few feet up to a line of flower pots . Apart from this the cottage was well equipped but it does make me think Sykes do you you actually inspect the properties before you market them .

We all slept well, enjoyed exploring the local area and celebrating a family birthday at No 19 and we would love to return! We all loved the views and would highly recommend! Situated very close to a fantastic pub, huge portions and very tasty! Takeaway option and small shop attached to pub is very handy for anyone staying at the cottage!
