The sandy beach and dunes at Camber are a short drive away. Also nearby are the picturesque village of Winchelsea and the medieval town of Rye with its many antique shops, tea rooms, historic inns, fine restaurants, and 12th-century tower. Here there is also a museum housing a number of relics from Rye’s past and a lovely art gallery that houses temporary exhibitions by local artists as well as a small permanent collection of works by artists associated with Rye.
This a popular holiday place all year round with plenty of sites to visit locally, including Battle with its abbey ruins, Hastings with its 1066 links and smugglers’ caves, and Tenterden with its steam railway. There are also many National Trust houses and beautiful gardens within easy reach, including Bodiam Castle, Smallhythe Place and Batemans. Ashford, 30 miles away, offers day trips to France by Eurostar. Alternatively there is a ferry crossing at Dover. There are many scenic walks in the area, both coastal and inland, and it is common to see ramblers in the village, mostly heading for the popular pub! Also locally, there is golf, riding, cycling, sea and freshwater fishing. Post office/shop opposite.

We loved Holly Cottage, especially the views and watching the horses and birds. The accommodation is exceptional. We would love to return in summer. The Two Sawyers is worth a visit too. The turkey roast was delicious. Nice friendly staff. We can recommend.

We had a fantastic stay at Holly Cottage. I went with 2 friends and we each had our 2 children with us. The cottage was really spacious - with a lovely big kitchen, separate lounge and dining table that comfortably sat 8 people. The bedrooms - and beds - were really comfortable too! When we arrived there were individual soaps laid out on each bed and we were greeted with a bottle of champagne and pack of after eight mints, which was a brilliant surprise - thank you! We cooked several meals in the kitchen, which was really well equipped. We also ate at the local pub, which was a few minutes walk. We can’t wait to book again when the weather is a little nicer so we can enjoy the garden too. A really brilliant find! Thank you :)

We had a very comfortable stay at Holly Cottage. Pett is an excellent location for proximity to the beach and country park. Proximity to the local pub where excellent food is served is a bonus. We’d thoroughly recommend it and hope to return next year.
