Newstead Farmhouse is a charming 17th-century home situated within the South Downs National Park, near the historic town of Lewes, East Sussex. The cottage is perfect for families or friends, is welcoming and full of character. There is an oak dining table that can comfortably seat 6. The sitting room is homely and full of charm with exposed original oak timbers. When it's time to retire for the evening, find three well-presented bedrooms awaiting you. Bedroom 1 has a king size bed, vanity table and a large bedroom wardrobe. The third bedroom has a double bed, and has its original oak floorboards and exposed timber! The family bathroom is a real highlight, boasting an elegant roll-top bath, where you can soak away after your day out. Outside, the wrap-around enclosed garden offers open views of the surrounding countryside, providing a serene space to relax and unwind. The patio, complete with furniture, is the perfect spot for alfresco dining or simply enjoying a refreshing beverage as the sun sets.
The cottage is situated within the stunning landscape of the South Downs. From the front door, wander a minute along the lane, and straight up the wooded slopes of the South Downs, to Black Cap, with its breath-taking views of the Sussex countryside all around, and a glimpse of the English Channel to the south. If you can tear yourself away from the calm of Newstead Farmhouse, visit Drusillas Park for some family fun. Also great for young families are the many local farm visits like Middle Farm and Blackberry Farm. Or visit the local vineyards for wine-tasting. The Jolly Sportsman, a gastro pub, only a short bike ride down the lane, has an exquisite pub garden and excellent food.
Venture out to the wonderfully vibrant Brighton, a 25 minute drive away, with its incredible array of shops, pubs and restaurants, where you can meander along Brighton Pier with an ice cream. Whilst there, be sure to gaze upon the architectural grandeur of the Royal Pavilion. Spend a day exploring the natural wonders of Seven Sisters Country Park, where the stunning chalk cliffs provide an iconic backdrop to your walk. For a dose of beauty and history, visit the nearby National Trust wonders: Standen House and Garden, Nyman’s Garden’s, or Sheffield Park and Gardens which is famous for its stunning autumn colours and adjoins the wonderful Bluebell Steam Railway.

The peaceful rural hamlet of East Chelborough sits on the Dorset side of the Somerset/Dorset border, in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, 7 miles south of Yeovil, and 2 miles from the picturesque village of Evershot, which features in the Thomas Hardy novel ‘Tess of the D’Urbervilles’. This lovely area is dotted with walks, and pretty villages of thatched cottages, and lies just south of the 125-acre Sutton Bingham reservoir, home to many migrant birds including osprey, as well as having excellent facilities for fishing. A short drive takes you to ancient Sherborne with its lovely abbey and castle, and boasts a wealth of fascinating shops to explore. Alternatively, Thomas Hardy’s Dorchester, Montecute House, Forde Abbey and Yeovilton Fleet Air Arm Museum are all easily accessible. An attractive rural hamlet, also an easy drive from Dorset’s stunning Jurassic Coast, offering a tranquil and convenient base from which to tour this superb area.
