Keen Cottage in Gloucestershire is a well-received holiday rental, praised for its beautiful location in a peaceful village, cosy atmosphere, and well-equipped kitchen. Guests appreciate the thoughtful touches like air conditioning during a heatwave and a well-stocked library. While some guests suggest minor improvements in comfort and maintenance, the overall experience is highly regarded, making it a recommended stay for exploring the Cotswolds.
Most guests found Keen Cottage to be spotlessly clean, contributing to a comfortable and welcoming stay. However, a few reviews mentioned issues with cleanliness, such as a dirty fridge and bathroom radiators, which slightly impacts the overall high standard noted by others.
The cottage's location is consistently praised for its peacefulness, beauty, and convenience. It is situated in a picturesque village with easy access to local attractions and amenities, including friendly pubs and organic farm shops.
Guests generally find the cottage cosy and the beds comfortable. However, some guests noted that the lounge furniture was not the comfiest, especially for taller individuals, and suggested that it could be improved for a perfect score.
The cottage is celebrated for its well-equipped kitchen, air conditioning unit provided during a heatwave, and a lovely wood burner. A few guests mentioned the need for better lighting and a colander, but overall, the facilities meet guests' needs well.
Guests have mentioned appreciating the provision of milk and biscuits, and the forethought of providing an air conditioning unit. While some guests suggested the addition of a welcome basket with items like bread and eggs, it should be noted that such gifts, while delightful, are not guaranteed.
Keen Cottage is just charming! The cottage is a typical 18th-century Cotswold home packed with charming and traditional characteristics that are coupled with contemporary touches to give this a truly stand-out holiday home option. It is located in the 'West End' of this award winning community and is settled down a small lane and within a classic row of cottages. Internally, the home has been restored to include a conservatory/dining room and kitchen, as well as the spectacular inglenook fireplace with a woodburning stove. Two good-sized bedrooms and two baths are located upstairs, while outside, there is a completely enclosed, south-facing garden to enjoy. The area is both calm and convenient, with two excellent pubs just a short walk away and a convenience store where you can stock up on the essentials. For days out you can make your way into the lovely towns of Chipping Norton or Stow-on-the-Wold, home to a good selection of restaurants and plenty of walking routes to take and admire. Attractions within include the National Trust’s popular Chastleton House, The Dragonfly Maze, and further afield and perfect for children and animal lovers, the Cotswold Wildlife Park and Gardens. We love it... very comfortable, excellent kitchen, and great location. We have a rental car and it's so easy to get to all our favourite villages. Wouldn't want to stay anywhere else in The Cotswolds.

Situated in a quiet position in a charming Cotswold village, central by car to most places of interest and with numerous walks locally, a perfect place for a quiet stay. Two pubs with great restaurants in the village and lots of others within short driving distances.

It was reported at 19.00 on the Wednesday evening and a plumber did not come until 17.20 on the Thursday. Sink was completely unusable and was filled with black smelly gunge form the blocked pipes. water from upstairs sinks etc caused the l kitchen sink to overflow which meant we could not use the bathrooms properly either. We had planned to cook our meals and had bought food for this, seen by housekeeper, but had to go out as no way could any cooking be done due to hygiene issues and no sink and we would soon have run out of crockery etc. Very disappointed that no compensation was offered for the discomfort and in convienience.
