There are also waggon and horse-drawn forest tours, as well as a variety of forest walks for visitors of all ages and abilities. On the first Monday in August, the town holds a village festival. Brockenhurst is only a few miles from the coast and a short walk from the forest's heart. Nearby Cadnam provides a great opportunity for families to enjoy fresh air and open spaces, while a short drive from Lyndhurst village centre reveals extensive grasslands kept short by commoners' stock—the ponies, donkeys and cattle that can be seen throughout the area.

We had a toddler with us and it was ideal as he could roam the open plan kitchen and front room. Rod was very kind and left us bread, butter, milk, eggs and biscuit which was very kind and perfect for a cup of tea as soon as we arrived after a long journey! The location of the property was perfect, lovely pubs and walks very local and Rod recommended some great places for us to try which didnât disappoint! They even put up a Christmas tree for us as we stayed over the holidays which made the stay extra special. Would defiantly return and stay here again, canât fault it!

Lots of extras were included too - thanks R & C. We were only there for three nights so didnât have the opportunity to sample all the eateries but those we did try were all well worth the visit. The only minor fly in the ointment was the lack of a wc on the top floor but that obviously couldnât be helped. The back lane was tight but the next door car was a Volvo estate so most family cars should manage ok. Overall, highly recommended.
