Avondale is a wonderful, four bedroom, two bathroom home that has been lovingly refurbished to create a wonderful holiday home in a charming village location. With a spacious living room with a wood burner, and an open plan kitchen/diner with with picture window overlooking the garden and New Forest National Park beyond, this is the perfect choice for friends or families to use as a base to explore this stunning part of the country. The snug offers peaceful views out over the fields to the rear.
This fantastic cottage is in the peaceful village of Woodgreen, and you are very likely to see horses, donkeys and cattle (and during Panage, wild pigs) wandering past your front gate. Woodgreen is a charming village situated on the north west edge of the New Forest National Park. Woodgreen Common is designated as a Site of Special Scientific Interest, and there are many walks and cycle rides that can be undertaken directly from the cottage. Woodgreen also boasts a wonderful village pub, serving traditional British cuisine, which is an easy, level walk from the cottage (make sure you have a torch for the way home), and there is also a delightful community-run village store and post office.
The neighbouring market town of Fordingbridge has a pub on the river and a great grocer shop for local produce; there is also an organic farm shop close by with its own café. Fordingbridge is known for its medieval bridge with five arches, and has many local shops, boutiques, eateries and a church. Nearby there is a waterpark, which offers wakeboarding, sailing, fishing and other water sports, and there is horse riding and golf in the area too.
Thirty minutes or so to the south, you will find beautiful sandy beaches at Southbourne, Bournemouth and Sandbanks. Other places to visit include Moors Valley, Christchurch Harbour and Dorset Heavy Horse Farm. The historic cathedral cities of Winchester and Salisbury are within a short drive away and are well worth a visit. Family days out include Marwell Zoo, Beaulieu Motor Museum, Monkey World and Adventure Wonderland. Gorgeous house, plenty of room downstairs for 7 adults. Lovely sitting in the lounge with the log burner. Twin room is small, did not have a mirror, same for the double room. Both bathrooms are well equipped and great showers. Just keep an eye on hot water as it can run out and emersion heater would need to be put on. Kitchen is lovely but sadly ill equipped for cooking and cups, glasses, bowls if there are 7 of you. Local pub fantastic and a 5 minute walk. Local shop great and a 6 minute walk. Area brilliant. Thank you for an enjoyable Christmas stay.

What a wonderful place Avondale is. Woodgreen is a lovely little village, with a pub that does great food and great value. Village shop is well equipped. A delight to watch the horses and cows roaming free through the village.The house has everything that need for a perfect stay in a tranquil and relaxing location. Great hosts - we will definitely be going back!
