I find The Galley more than acceptable as a self catering accomodation for my and my dog's purposes. This was the 3rd time I had stayed in The Galley since March 2023 and I have also stayed in The Annex which is Pat & Bill's other SCA on 2 occasions since March 2023. I know exactly what both units have for Douglas (my dog) and I. I have used the SCA's for stays in March, Nov & April/May. For my needs both units are acceptable for location, cleanliness, comfort & equipment, warmth and value for money. The only reason local amenities is lower is the local premier store is 5 - 7 mins walk away at Apse Heath crossroads which may be an issue for people without a car. When I stayed this April 2026 there was a 30mins bus service (Southern Vectis No:-8) from Apse Heath crossroads to Newport or Sandown. Once a hour the bus continues on Ryde Esplanade interchange via IOW NE coastal villages. Morrisons and ALDI stores are served by SV No:- 8, 5mins bus ride in the Sandown direction. The buses used are new electric double deckers and I have used them with Douglas.Galley Horn is home to Living Larder which is a small working organic farm which grows vegetables and you do access both units via the heart of the farm. There were no animals in 2025 or this year in 2026 but they do have 4 Massey Ferguson tractors the youngest being 50 years old chat to Bill if that interests you. I use both units at Galley Horn principally because the area is peaceful, comfortable and warm, I'm not looking for or wanting high end everything to hand SCA's. If that is what you want I would look else where. I do occasionally think do I want to use another SCA in Shanklin, which I've used before and quite often is cheaper and then I think no, I'll go and see Pat, Bill and Raven (their dog) instead!
