About this property

A rare opportunity to holiday in an elegant Jacobean property with lots of original features. Little Northcourt sits in the west wing of a substantial manor house with a private south-facing walled garden, sunroom and terrace. All of the rooms are wonderfully spacious and comfortably furnished with a mix of antiques and modern pieces to create a holiday home that is both beautiful and comfortable. The house accommodates six people in three ensuite bedrooms, with a flexible layout that works well for families or friends. Northcourt House is in the quiet village of Shorwell on the south-west of the Isle of Wight, within walking distance of the village shop and pub and close to favourite sights and attractions.

Little Northcourt offers a rare opportunity to stay in a Jacobean manor house. It's hard to believe this charming property was considered modest in its day, having been built as quarters for servants. Having undergone extensive renovations in 1905 and again this century, it's now a gorgeous self-catering cottage accommodating six people in three bedrooms with spacious living areas and extensive gardens. Little Northcourt is part of a more substantial property in Shorwell on the Isle of Wight, within walking distance of the village shop and local pub, The Crown Inn. The house is perfect for families and friends who want a holiday home close to everything yet quiet and peaceful.

The Isle of Wight makes such a wonderful holiday destination because of its beautiful beaches and fantastic scenery and because everything is conveniently close. You're never more than a 20-minute drive from anywhere, so your days out can be full of fun without you having to spend hours in the car reaching beaches and attractions. Shorwell is in the south-west of the Island, in a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. It's a 25-minute drive around the coast from the ferry terminal at Yarmouth, where you'll arrive if you depart from Lymington. If travelling from Southampton or Portsmouth to Ryde, it's a 25-minute drive. Between the ferry crossing of the Solent and the short, scenic drive from the ferry, it's probably the most relaxed start to a holiday you'll have!

Shorwell is around two miles from the south coast, sitting quietly near chalk downs, where maritime plants and birds thrive. Guests can walk or cycle there, using the island's extensive network of way-marked footpaths, bridleways and cycling routes. Local attractions include The Needles, Osborne House, Blackgang Chine, the Botanic Gardens at Ventnor, Dinosaur Isle, and The Garlic Farm. Watersports are understandably popular all year round. Cowes is famous for its sailing conditions. Surfing, kite surfing, coasteering and kayaking are popular, and there's a good variety of businesses providing equipment hire and tuition for visitors who want it.

Little Northcourt is in the west wing of the manor house. The owners live in another part of the house and are present to greet guests and answer any questions.
