Guests say

The Old Doctors Manor House in Whitstable is praised for its spaciousness, well-equipped kitchen, and excellent location close to the beach and local amenities. Guests enjoyed the large garden, hot tub, and communal areas, making it ideal for family gatherings and group stays. While most found the property comfortable and appreciated the en-suite bedrooms, some noted issues with maintenance, heating, and occasional cleanliness concerns. Overall, the house offers a memorable stay with plenty of space and amenities, though a few areas could benefit from additional attention.

Most guests found the property generally clean and comfortable, but a few mentioned issues such as a mouse sighting, overgrown front garden, and some areas feeling 'unloved' or in need of a refresh. These comments suggest cleanliness is usually good but can occasionally fall short.

The location is consistently praised, with guests highlighting its proximity to the beach, shops, restaurants, and Whitstable town centre. The convenience and pleasant surroundings are a major positive.

Guests appreciated the spacious rooms, comfortable beds, and large communal areas. However, some experienced issues with heating, hot water, and insufficient seating for larger groups, which affected overall comfort for a few stays.

The house is well-equipped, especially the kitchen, and features like the hot tub and cinema room are popular. However, several reviews mention maintenance issues such as broken door handles, missing blinds, detached sinks, and incomplete decor, indicating room for improvement.

Guests noted the kitchen was well-stocked and appreciated the provision of items like travel cots and high chairs, though these are not guaranteed. Some mentioned quick communication from the host, but others found support inconsistent. No mention of gifts was found.

Good points Excellent location, great kitchen with plenty of equipment and great fridge freezer, very comfy beds, good dining room table. Good secure back garden Bad points It is in poor state of repair and feels unloved and incomplete. Front garden is overgrown. Painting & decorating is shoddy. Toaster and ring on hob doesn't work. Lamps, hairdryers and curtains have charity shop labels on them. The dining room curtains don't fit and have a clear label saying gift aid item £20. Dining room windows have insulation tape badly fitted to inside. Dining room cabinet is just an array of cables. In the lounge there is a settee and 2 chairs and a fire, it looks at nothing and no tables - very odd so there is nowhere for 8 of us to sit except the dining room. One toilet is leaking and one bathroom has a clear window not a frosted one. Should be More than 2 teatowels, 2 dishcloths and kitchen roll Currently it's very overpriced with some TLC it could be awesome. Photos should be redone

The Old Doctors Manor House was an interesting place to stay. It was certainly large enough for our extended family of 9 to stay. There were lots of activities within the house and in the local area and we had a great time. However, a sink was detached from the wall and several door handles fell off (one making it difficult for our children’s room to close).

Some of the decor looks a bit tired and the cinema room could do with a bit more seating. However, very comfortable for the 8 of us, lovely to have such a big kitchen and we all enjoyed the hot tub! Unlike an earlier review, the house was very warm and we had no problem with hot water for showers. Easy walk into the village and along to Whitstable which was nice. Thanks for a great couple of days.
