Set back from the coast road on a quiet street, SeaHardy is but 200 yards from the long stretch of beach and sandy dunes of Greatstone. With a crisp, contemporary finish throughout, an enviable range of entertainment space and a unique collection of artworks, prints and photos, SeaHardy is a delightful coastal cottage to visit at any time of the year.
There are three bedrooms, the master being en-suite, and a family bathroom. The house sleeps four adults upstairs, two children on the bunk bed, plus one additional child on a pull-out bed. The fantastic sitting room/living room has a large corner sofa, 65” Smart TV and Playstation 3. The huge kitchen-dining room looks out over the garden through three sets of French doors. With stripped floorboards, a full range of appliances and four different seating areas, it is a fantastic cooking and social space in which to spread out or come together as you wish. The kitchen-dining room opens onto a wide deck, with a comfortable outside dining area. The large lawn beyond is interspersed with fruit trees and reveals a surprise just waiting to be enjoyed. The summerhouse sits in the sun at the top of the garden and boasts an excellent games room. The perfect retreat for the kids to hang out and enjoy their own memorable seaside holiday.
Greatstone has lots to offer, especially its beautiful, little-known sandy beach. The narrow-gauge Romney Hythe and Dymchurch Railway (rhdr) runs right through the village. The Sound Mirrors by Greatstone Lakes on the Nature Reserve to the west are worth a visit, built in the 1920s to detect enemy aircraft. New Romney is 3 miles away with supermarkets, banks, and shops. Nearby Dungeness is designated as a Site of Special Scientific Interest (sssi) and is popular with artists and photographers. Pop into their studios to watch them at work, or browse the wide range of beach art. The medieval town of Rye is about 15 miles away and has lots to explore, whether you are looking for boutique shops, quaint tea rooms, historic architecture, or a walk across Rye Harbour Nature Reserve. Other places and events to visit include Port Lympne Wild Animal Park, Romney Marsh, Hythe Festival in July, and Rye’s festivals throughout the year.

The cottage was nice to stay in although the beds were a bit uncomfortable. There is two local shops nearby but are a bit expensive. The place itself was nice and roomy the games room was good for the kids. Garden is quite big so kids can play around. It’s best to check the tide times as the water goes out too far when it’s out. Dymchurch is 15 min drive from the property. Overall it was a pleasant stay for a family of 6.
