About this property

Resting on the village green in Sandhurst, Kent in the stunning High Wealds Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty is Cherry Garden Cottage. This wonderful cottage benefits from a fabulous location in the heart of one of the main cherry growing areas in Kent, surrounded by hop gardens and vineyards. It is close to local amenities, has two lovely enclosed gardens with views of the village’s clock tower, a yoga platform for morning sun salutations, four beautifully appointed bedrooms and two sitting rooms; perfect for friends or families looking to make the most of both countryside and coast in Kent with their beloved canine companion. Cross the threshold into your new home-from-home where you can warm your feet, after a day of exploration, by the warmth of the woodburning stove in the first sitting room or into the fully-equipped kitchen to rustle up meals for the family; or indulge in an alfresco meal in the front garden, you can then enjoy evening drinks in the firepit, the perfect place to admire the stars filling the sky. When the sky darkens, climb to the first floor to wash off the day’s adventures in the bathroom fitted with deep bath with a shower over before sloping off to sleep in the king-size, double, or twin room (single beds which can be converted into a super king if needed), alternatively, continue up to the second floor to rest in the double room with a handy en-suite shower room. If you can tear yourself away from this idyllic dwelling, Rye is a 20 minute drive away and must be one of the most picturesque small towns in the country with its medieval houses and inns, steep cobbled streets and a multitude of small, independent shops and excellent restaurants and pubs. Families will enjoy a day spent on the glorious golden beach at Camber Sands, or a visit to Battle Abbey, the site of the famous Battle of Hastings or perhaps mountain biking in Bedgebury Pinetum or kayaking along the River Rother at Bodiam Boating Station. On sunny days, make the most of the nearby coast at Camber and Winchelsea, or the historic seaside resort of Hastings, where you can admire views from the pier, enjoy the fun fair, trampolines, miniature railway, boating pond and mini-golf or immerse yourself in the past in Hastings Old Town and the modern Art Gallery. Cherry Garden Cottage is located in an AONB offering guests an abundance of attractions and walks including the nearby NT Bodiam Castle surrounded by its moat, the famous gardens at Sissinghurst Castle and Great Dixter, as well as Pashley Manor, for its Dahlia, Tulip and Rose Festivals. The Bull in Benenden and The White Dog in Ewhurst Green offer excellent food and drink, and don’t miss several Vineyards offering tasting session and tours a short drive away, the National Trust sites of Scotney Castle – great for dog walking in the surrounding parkland and forest, and Batemans, Kipling’s home are all within a short, scenic drive. All this and more awaits at Cherry Garden Cottage.

Sandhurst, a picturesque English village, is located in the High Weald Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty between the towns of Rye and Royal Tunbridge Wells. Its name, which comes from the Anglo-Saxon for "sandy wood," perfectly captures the picturesque landscape of the town, which is dotted with picturesque timber-framed houses and highlighted by a windmill built in 1844 and offering stunning photo opportunities, as well as a private vineyard. The community is also in a perfect location for visiting Bodiam Castle, where visitors can gaze at the moat before entering the castle, which dates back to the 14th century and hosts various exhibitions and even archery tournaments. Bayham Old Abbey, Sissinghurst Castle Garden, the Jacobean mansion Batemans, and the National Trust Site of Lamb House are just a few of the other noteworthy sites dotted around the area. Or you may travel to Rye's coast and watch the sun go down while exploring the ruins of Camber Castle and wandering along the sandy beaches of Camber Sands, which overlook the Channel. Or, you may stay on dry land and explore the region's many hiking trails, which pass through picturesque countryside, magnificent forests, and rural communities. You can do all of this and more from your base in Sandhurst.

The house is in a beautiful setting, very spacious, comfortable beds, very well equipped, a perfect home from home! No problem from the clock tower, a gentle chime that we hardly noticed! Well positioned to explore many National Trust houses!
