The Sawmill Cottage is a fabulous example of a sympathetically converted period building in the heart of Tunbridge Wells. The Sawmill, which used to service The Pantiles, is a cosy, comfortable cottage perfect for a quick visit to the city or as a base for a longer, more relaxed holiday.

With oak fittings and fresh blue tones, the cottage exudes a warm ambience. Whether you are looking to take a break alone, with a loved one or even a furry friend, be sure to take time to unwind in the suntrap garden or relax in the delightful roll top bath, let your stresses simply drift away.

The Pantiles is a stone’s throw away, a family friendly pedestrian street which has the vibrant atmosphere of a European city. With an ample choice of cafes and restaurants in which to eat, offering a range of British and Continental cuisine; enjoy a leisurely lunch or if the sun is shining why not dine alfresco?

During the spring and summer months Tunbridge Wells comes alive with events to entertain all ages. Relax with a coffee or glass of wine whilst listening to the jazz evenings every Thursday at the open air Band Stand or sample organic produce from the Saturday markets. There is a great mixture of high street and independent shops, plenty of antique stores to explore and the convenience of a supermarket within walking distance. The Sawmill Cottage is an ideal holiday location in Tunbridge Wells, Kent suitable for all who choose to visit.

    The property was as it always is. Warm, comfy and a super welcome package. A very pleasant break, during a difficult time with the water restrictions.

    The cottage is centrally located and cosy inside, with all the essentials provided for a comfortable stay. However, if you're travelling with dogs, you may want to reconsider. While the property is advertised as dog-friendly and mentions an enclosed garden, in reality, it is not secure enough to safely let dogs off the lead.One major concern is that the cottage is attached to an office, which isn't clearly stated in the listing. The garden wraps around the property and includes a gate, hidden on the far side—near the office—that leads directly onto the driveway. This gate is often left open by people entering or exiting the office.When we arrived, I initially let our dogs into the garden supervised by me and assuming it was secure, after checking and not seeing the hidden gate. Unfortunately, they quickly found the gate and made it onto the driveway, which is particularly dangerous given the property's location on a very busy junction with constant traffic from both sides. Luckily, my husband was nearby unloading the car and was able to stop them before they reached the road.We repeatedly closed the gate, but it was always left open again by others. I raised the issue with the owner and suggested something simple—like adding a sign asking for the gate to be kept shut—but they seemed uninterested and stated that the property is not advertised as dog-proof and they had no control over the gate. While that may be technically true, it would be fair and responsible to be more transparent about the shared use of the garden and the frequent access to the gate, especially given the fact that the constant open gate makes the garden not fully enclosed and a significant risk to dogs due to the property’s location.

    Had a great stay at Sawmill Cottage. It provided everything that you would require for a comfortable stay. All amenities provided for. Tastefully decorated and furnished. The welcome pack was the best we’ve experienced with all the essentials and more. The cottage is in a prime position for the town with restaurants in close proximity including the famous Pantiles just over the road. The only slight reservation we would point out about the cottage is the difficulty of driving out onto the busy main road at times.
