The farm buildings date from the mid-18th century and comprise a traditional brick-and-flint farmhouse, an impressive range of outbuildings - barns, granary and cart shed. Originally belonging to the Hambleden Estate, it ceased being a working farm in 1962 and was purchased by the present owner’s father in 1968. The farm is situated in the renowned Hambleden Valley and lies within the Pheasants Hill Conservation Area, as well as the Chilterns Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, and is under the protection of a National Trust covenant.

You will find mementoes of previous generations throughout the property. The owner’s grandfather was a master carver and you will be sleeping in a wonderful carved oak bed that he made for his own wedding in 1902 (but made super-comfortable with a brand new sprung base and orthopaedic mattress). The owner’s father was an artist and nearly all of the paintings and drawings in the property are his work.

The one-acre garden, shared with the owners, is fully enclosed (to keep the deer out). Guests can enjoy their own sitting area, with table and chairs provided. The garden is looked after without the use of pesticides or herbicides and is, in consequence, a haven for wildlife. The wildflower meadow is covered in cowslips in the spring and more than 100 Pyramid Orchids appear in the summer.

The owners are passionate about wildlife and the environment, and will be donating 15% of earnings on the property to local wildlife and conservation charities. Hot water and heating in the property uses electricity solely from renewable resources. Rainwater for the garden is collected in a large underground cistern. Shop/tea room and pub/restaurant ½ mile.

This is a wonderful place in a beautiful setting. It’s a delight in all seasons and the perfect base for walking out in the Chilterns. Can’t recommend it enough.

We had a wonderful stay here over the Christmas and New Year period, from 19 December 2025 until 2 January 2026. From the very first moment, we felt warmly welcomed by Charles and Kate. The welcome pack was a lovely surprise, with delicious homemade treats and a bottle of bubbly – such a thoughtful and personal touch. The cottage was exceptionally clean and truly equipped with every comfort. Everything you could possibly need was provided, and the interior was cosy and tastefully furnished. Especially at this time of year, this made a real difference, and the excellent heating ensured the cottage was always comfortably warm. The location is ideal for exploring the region. Windsor and Oxford are both around a 35-minute drive away, while central London can be reached in approximately 1 hour and 15 minutes. At the same time, you are surrounded by beautiful and peaceful countryside. From the cottage, you can enjoy lovely walks straight through the fields without having to use public roads, which we found particularly enjoyable. In short, a beautiful place in a lovely setting, offering a comfortable and spotless cottage and exceptionally welcoming hosts. Highly recommended for anyone looking to combine peace and quiet, comfort, and a great base for exploring the area.

Such lovely owners Charles and Kate. As before the place was spotless. A nice walk into village, where there is a general store, who serve food. And a pub. We will return.
