You would be forgiven if you thought the surroundings were somewhat familiar. This quirky, single-storey property, nestled in the village of Turville, is 5 miles north of Henley-on-Thames. It is one of the most beautiful villages in the Chilterns and the south of England. Turville is home to the Vicar of Dibley, the BBC sitcom starring Dawn French, as well as films such as Chitty Chitty Bang Bang.

The Cart Shed, adjacent to the owner’s home, is directly opposite the 12th-century church, and perfect for couples looking for a romantic getaway. Stylishly decorated, its kitchen area is equipped for light meals, is warmed by underfloor heating, offers a large powerful shower, and a comfortable double bed. The village consists of a country pub serving delicious food, local beer and fine wines, and a small village green. Clustered around the green and along the short high street are some of the most attractive period cottages you can imagine; it’s as if you have been transported back several centuries in time.

An aonb, the Chiltern Hills stretch from the River Thames in Oxfordshire to Hitchin in Hertfordshire and are nationally protected as some of the finest countryside in the UK. They are fantastic to explore and are enjoyed by walkers and cyclists all year round. Wildlife and herds of fallow deer are in abundance, and you will frequently see them grazing on your walks, together with red kites soaring above you.

Other places of interest nearby include the picturesque town of Henley-on-Thames, known the world over for its Royal Regatta held in the first week of July, and the festival soon after. Garsington Opera is set on the beautiful Wormsley Estate, 5 minutes up the road, and is something not to be missed. Marlow-on-Thames is only 15 minutes away, providing great restaurants and pretty walks along the Thames. High Wycombe is also 15 minutes away, offering shopping in the Eden Centre and convenient access to central London either by motorway or a regular train service. Bicester village is 35 minutes away with spectacular shopping. Shop 2½ miles, pub and restaurant 175 yards.

Fabulous place to stay. Cosy and compact, with everything well needed for a long weekend in the Chilterns. Thank you

We had an enjoyable mini break, staying at The Cart Shed. The location is brilliant, perfect for visiting Marlow, beautiful Henley on Thames and walking in the scenic Chiltern Hills. The village of Turville is very pretty and we had a lovely meal at the pub, just a two minute walk away. The studio is small, but with a decent sized bathroom and a large powerful shower. It is attractively decorated, but lots of furniture and so many ornaments leaves little room for guests cases and belongings, as well as making dusting difficult. I know everyone has different preferences, but we found the bed hard and uncomfortable. The garden was very pretty and we liked sitting on the little patio in the sunshine. There is nowhere to buy any food and the welcome pack mentioned in the description wasn't provided, so be sure to take essentials with you.
