Guests say

Shepherd's Loft is highly praised for its cosy, beautifully presented accommodation in a peaceful rural setting, ideal for couples seeking relaxation and countryside walks. Guests consistently mention the warm hospitality of the hosts, the spotless cleanliness, and the thoughtful touches throughout. The property is well located for exploring Oxfordshire and nearby attractions, with many appreciating the tranquil atmosphere and private garden. While a few guests found the kitchen compact and some appliances a little complex, the overall experience is overwhelmingly positive, with many eager to return.

Multiple reviews highlight the property as spotlessly clean and well maintained, with no negative comments regarding cleanliness.

Guests love the quiet rural location, beautiful views, and proximity to Oxford, Reading, and local attractions. A single mention of occasional road and air traffic noise was noted but did not detract from the overall positive impression.

The property is frequently described as cosy, comfortable, and homely, with particular praise for the bed, sofa, and peaceful atmosphere. Only minor comments about the bathroom being downstairs were mentioned.

Facilities are generally rated highly, with guests enjoying the well-equipped accommodation, private garden, and fire pit. A few found the kitchen area small and some appliances a bit complicated, but these were minor points.

Guests repeatedly mention thoughtful touches such as welcome packs with homemade bread, eggs, and other treats. While these gestures are greatly appreciated, it should be noted that such gifts are not guaranteed for every stay.

Harcourt Arboretum, the Earth Trust Centre, the Aston Martin Heritage Trust Museum and Wittenham Clumps, for stunning panoramic views of south Oxfordshire. Plenty of local golf courses in the area for golf enthusiasts and if trains are of interest, there is a large collection of steam locomotives at Didcot Railway Centre where you can also ride on the 1930’s trains. You’ll be spoilt for choice!

This is our second stay at this property and we had a fantastic short break. Sue, is a wonderful host and the property is beautifully presented in a lovely rural area. I cannot fault Shepherd's Loft, it is a perfect bolthole for a quiet couple's break away from home. Part of me wishes there was room for a bigger kitchen area, but that is just personal preference as it has everything you need. (We came back for a second visit so it was not a problem!) We are pretty sure that we will book again later this year as we love the Cotswolds/Chilterns and this property is ideally situated for travelling around the area.

We had a wonderful short break at Shepherd's Loft. We were greeted by Sue on arrival and from the moment we set foot inside the property we felt at home. Clean, cosy and comfortable with thoughtful touches throughout. Perfectly situated for travelling around the area, yet set in a quiet rural setting with red kites circling overhead and the hooting of an owl each evening! We have already booked to return again next year.
