Guests say

Pollard Cottage is consistently praised for its charm, history, and modern amenities. Guests appreciate the property's cleanliness, convenient location, and the thoughtful touch of a welcome parcel. The cottage's character and proximity to local services, including a pub and train station, make it a highly recommended stay.

Guests are impressed with the cleanliness of the cottage, with one review specifically highlighting its spotlessness. The property is maintained to a high standard.

The location is deemed incredibly convenient, close to local amenities, a train station, and a pub. It's also described as quiet, despite occasional noise from the street.

The cottage is described as cosy, comfortable, and well-insulated, with modernised facilities for contemporary living. However, the mention of a rope bannister needing to be taut suggests a minor comfort issue.

Facilities are generally well-received, with a modern bathroom and kitchen. However, there are comments about a quirky sink tap and a desire for a long mirror, indicating room for improvement.

While guests mention a welcome parcel, there is not enough information to assess the consistency of such gestures across all stays. Therefore, while appreciated, such thoughtfulness cannot be guaranteed.

This beautifully presented listed Tudor home has been sympathetically modernised whilst retaining its original character and features including beams, inglenook fire surround with wood burner, part wattle and daub walls and a beamed vaulted high ceiling in the kitchen/dining room. The semi-detached property boasts some clever adaptations such as church pews being used as panels to decorate the walls of the landing/reading area. With Elizabethan additions, this lovely period property was originally built as a replica of what is now the village library.

It is about 7 minutes’ walk to the mainline station with regular trains to London taking just 35 minutes, where there is so much to see and do including Buckingham Palace, The London Eye, Big Ben, The British Museum, Tower Bridge, The London Dungeons, river tours, theatres and much much more! Lingfield Park Racecourse is close by, and other races such as Epsom and Brighton are also within easy reach. The England London Mormon Temple (Church of Jesus of Latter-day Saints) is also based in Lingfield and its extensive gardens are open to the public. Gatwick Airport is about a 25-minute drive, 11 miles, ideal for overseas visitors.

There are many popular places of interest within easy driving distance including Hever Castle and Chartwell, Churchill’s favourite former home. There are many homes and gardens to visit including Standen, Penshurst Place and Wakehurst, along with Chiddingstone Castle and Borde Hill. Also worth visiting are the British Wildlife Centre, Godstone Farm, Staffhurst Wood Nature Reserve and Ashdown Forest. The Spa town of Royal Tunbridge Wells is also a short drive away. Other popular attractions for the family include Pooh Corner, a Winnie the Pooh inspired gift shop and tea room. Or why not try the escape rooms at Tulley Farm or enjoy a round of golf at Lingfield or one of the other courses within easy reach. Shop ¼ mile, pub and restaurant 200 yards.

Wow, what an amazing place to stay! The photos really don’t do it justice. It’s a cozy, character-filled property, beautifully modernized for contemporary living. The charm of the Grade 1 listed building is balanced perfectly with modern touches. The location is incredibly convenient, with the town just a short 5-minute walk away. The Star Inn is a stone’s throw away, and the train station is only a 6-minute walk, getting you into London in under an hour. One thing to note is the door frames are low, which is typical of a Grade 1 listed property, but once you’re through, the height in the rooms is great and very spacious.Communication with Betty was fantastic, and she made everything easy and enjoyable. Would definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for a charming and convenient stay

Great stay in a quirky cottage. We would have liked a solid bannister (or if rope to be taut) to make ascent easier. Also a long mirror would be a bonus. As as the check in is late (5pm) a later departure would be helpful, just small issues. Over all a great place to stay and would recommend it.
