The surrounding countryside is outstandingly beautiful with Nidderdale and the Yorkshire Dales to the west and the North York Moors to the east. Close by there are many major attractions including Fountains Abbey and Studley Royal Water Garden (National Trust) and the historic houses of Norton Conyers and Newby Hall & Gardens.
