We spent Xmas week at Cow Cottage. The cottage was very well appointed, everything was thought of and it was spotlessly clean. It was cosy and comfortable. We liked the fact that there was an emphasis on environmentally friendly and sustainable products in the cottage. Location was very good, on the edge of the Mendip Hills and only 10 miles from Weston-super-Mare and the coastal paths. After a long drive, it was lovely to be welcomed with home made mince pies, muffins and redcurrant jelly. The nearby independent family run shop " Touts" was a bonus for local shopping and there are good farm shops a short drive away. The cottage was close to good walks in the Mendips and the coastal paths around Weston-super-Mare. We took advantage of these and did as much wa,king as we could, limited daylight hours permitting. We wouldn't hesitate in recommending Cow Cottage. There was, however, one slight drawback which was mentioned in a previous review. The central heating system was warm and efficient ( we were there during a cold December snap) but it is locked into the owners central heating as their home is attached to the cottage. This meant the timer was controlled by the owners. They went to great lengths to check if we were warm enough and gave us a mobile number & told us to knock on their door if we wanted the heating on outside the hours set on their timer. This we did but it was difficult because we were out part of the time and not keeping regular hours. One morning we were unexpectedly up at 6am and couldn't contact them at such an early hour. There was, however, 3 supplementary plug in heaters and we did use them as a back up at odd times.

What a lovely, cosy, peaceful cottage. Just perfect for the 2 of us to have a restful break. Surrounded by gorgeous countryside - at the foot of the Mendips. Quiet location but has easy acces to the main road. Our hosts were friendly and welcoming. There was a tea tray all laid out on our arrival, along with fresh scones, homemade jam and jersey cream!! They quickly sorted out an isue we had with the cooker when the heating element blew.
