Enjoy this delicious meal at the intimate dining table where you can also pop open a bottle of fizz to toast your special getaway. While the evening away with drinks upon the decking where you can admire the sun setting and the stars as they begin to fill the night’s sky.

Travel back inside to wash off the day in the sleek shower room ahead of sloping off to sleep in the sumptuous King Size bedroom. During the day venture into the centre of Luxulyan to find a local store where you can pick up necessities to help ease your self-catered stay as well as the Kings Arms, a delightful pub serving delectable meals and a variety of drinks, a great setting for date night! The area surrounding St Chad’s Lodge is a haven for keen ramblers, head down to Luxulyan Valley where you can meander the woods to find the impressive Treffry Viaduct, or amble along the river at the Trees Mill River Walk; Bodmin Moor although slightly further afield is easily accessible by car and houses a myriad of activities.

Alternatively, spend a sunny day at the coast in Newquay, where you can soak up the sun on the glorious golden sands of Fistral or Great Western Beach ahead of admiring the marine life in Blue Reef Aquarium or exotic animals in Newquay Zoo. All of this and more awaits at St Chad’s Lodge.

Four miles to the northeast of St. Austell is the quaint community of Luxulyan. Luxulyan Valley, a picturesque wooded valley through which the river Par winds, is the village's main attraction. It is now owned by a local charity that is committed to maintaining its natural beauty as part of the Cornwall and West Devon Mining Landscape World Heritage Site, which was added in 2006. The village has a post office, a small store, a pub called "The Kings Arms," and a granite church. The village also boasts an Atlantic Coast Line train station, from which passengers can travel to either Newquay or Par. From Par, you can catch a train heading north to Lostwithiel, Looe, or Plymouth, or south to Truro, Falmouth, St. Ives, or Penzance.
