The Mews in Cornwall receives high praise for its comfort, cleanliness, and thoughtful touches such as a welcome cake. Guests appreciate the peaceful location, enclosed garden for dogs, and proximity to local attractions. The property is well-equipped, providing a homely feel and a secure base for exploring the area.

Reviews consistently mention the property being clean and tidy upon arrival, indicating high standards of cleanliness.

The property is lauded for its quiet, peaceful setting and accessibility to local sights, though one review notes difficulty with parking for longer vehicles.

Guests find the cottage very comfortable, with special mentions of comfortable furniture and beds. However, one guest noted the bed was uncomfortable, which slightly lowers the score.

The property is well-equipped according to guests, but there are minor comments about the need for a solid bannister and a bread knife, suggesting room for improvement in facilities and maintenance.

Many guests mention the thoughtful welcome gifts, such as homemade cake and dog biscuits, which contribute to a welcoming atmosphere. However, it's important to note that such gifts, while appreciated, are not guaranteed.

About this property

The Mews is a cosy reverse level two bedroom cottage, part of the old Tregaddick estate. This charming, dog-friendly, holiday home benefits from an enclosed-rear garden, off-road parking for two cars and a homely, first-floor open-plan living space welcoming up to four guests. The first bedroom with king size bed overlooks a pretty cobbled courtyard whilst the second has views of the patio and enclosed garden. The downstairs bathroom is opposite the bedrooms and easily accessible. The first floor open plan living space has two large comfortable sofas, Freeview TV and Sky Broadband, mini-music centre, small library of local interest books and maps and games etc for those rainy days. The kitchen is well equipped with an electric oven and hob, small integrated fridge and microwave. Central heating is oil fired and there is also a woodburner for those chilly nights (additional kiln dried logs are available at local shops and garages). The charming moorland village of Blisland is within walking distance (1 mile away) offering access to the Moor and beyond. Blisland is a beautiful village with its famous real ale pub, renowned for its character and friendly atmosphere, central green and community shop which is well stocked with local produce and crafts. The church at Blisland has Betjeman connections. Stunning Bodmin Moor is nearby, with its wildlife, Dark Sky status and tors. Ponies and highland cattle roam free and some of the best moorland walks in Cornwall await the enthusiastic walker. The Moor is rich in archaeological remains including standing stone circles, stone hut circles and King Arthur’s Hall. Exploring the Moor, visitors can enjoy finding some of the Poldark series’ filming locations and can enjoy a hearty meal at St.Breward’s Old Inn. Horse Riding is available at Hallagenna Stables. The Mews is also located minutes away from the Camel Trail, ideally situated for walking locally or cycling further afield to Wadebridge and Padstow. The Camel Trail is an impressive, level, traffic- free trail which follows the River Camel as it winds through the valley to the sea, passing quiet fields and estuary famed for its wildlife ( there are several RSPB hides dotted along the way). The central location of Mews allows for easy access to both North and South Cornish coasts. The rugged North coast is famous for its beaches where you can soak up the sun on the golden sands while your dog splashes around in the sea. The South coast offers sailing out of Fowey and the family attractions of Charlestown Harbour and the Eden Project.

Blisland is the only village in Cornwall to have a tree-lined village green, and it sits beneath the western edge of granite-bound Bodmin Moor. All around the green are historic homes and cottages, as well as the prestigious Blisland Inn. Less than three miles separate the village from the A30, making it a prime base from which to explore the rest of Cornwall. The Camel Trail, a 17-mile path that leads from Poley's Bridge to Padstow along an abandoned steam-engine railroad line, begins in the area. Pedestrians and cyclists will enjoy this path because it is devoid of cars. You can ride horses along the trail, and there's a special hide for birdwatchers between Wadebridge and Padstow. Put on your hiking boots and discover Bodmin Moor or pack a picnic and spend the day at one of the many stunning beaches that dot the northern coast of Cornwall. A beautiful region that everyone can enjoy.

The cottage had everything you could want for a comfortable stay. We had a lot of trouble finding the cottage as the instructions said to look out for a white sign next to recycle bins, but the white sign was resting against a low wall that was overgrown and partially hidden by one of the bins so was not very noticeable. Maybe if the sign was displayed higher up it would be easier to see. The only real negatives were how uncomfortable the bed was, we are used to firm pillows, and these were very thin, this resulted in us leaving a day early, as we had had such poor sleep for the time we were there, and also parking, as the space to park in was in a courtyard, but when neighbouring vehicles were parked adjacent to the courtyard entrance it made it difficult to get in and out of.

The property was lovely, had everything we would possibly need and the dogs loved the fully enclosed garden. The welcome cake was a lovely surprise and delicious. The beds were comfortable and the shower was so powerful it was like having a massage. Good location for exploring Cornwall. I would definitely recommend this property.
