About this property

Cardinham. Bodmin 5 miles, Blisland 5 miles.

The Orchard is a delightful, three-bedroom barn conversion nestled in Cardinham with stunning views overlooking Bodmin Moor. Pet-friendly and surrounded by the Cornish countryside, The Orchard offers a contemporary haven for up to six guests, ideal for those looking to escape the hustle and bustle of everyday life. Benefit from ample off-road parking, where you can unload your belongings whilst taking in your rural setting. Head indoors and meet the well-equipped kitchen/diner, with all the essentials for a self-catered stay, where you can prepare delicious meals to be enjoyed as a group; there’s also a handy utility next door, where you can store muddy boots and keep on top of your washing. After dinner, cosy up on the plush corner sofa, with a Smart TV for entertainment, or relish in a game of chess, before ending the evening with a stroll through the adjoining orchard and paddock, both available to guests.

When sleep calls, select between a king-size (zip/link), a double with Juliet balcony, and a further king-size room with Juliet balcony and its own en-suite bathroom. A spacious bathroom with rainfall shower services the rest of the home, where you can get ready in style. The Orchard is located 5 minutes away from the A30 and sits in a perfect location to explore both the North and South coast of the County. Start your holiday in nearby Blisland; a quaint, rural village, where you can stock up on the essentials and also dine out at The Blisland Inn, a traditional pub serving up hearty fare. Head into central Bodmin, with further amenities, Bodmin Town Museum and Bodmin Jail Attraction. Located close by is the stunning National Trust property, Lanhydrock House, where you can enjoy many walks or for those bike enthusiasts there are a selection of cycle trails for all abilities. Also, within a few miles is the beautiful Cardinham Woods, where you can explore the walking and cycle trails that overlook the stunning scenery. From here, take the time to explore some nearby attractions, particularly the Wadebridge Camel Trail which hugs the River Camel and offers stunning views across the countryside, or venture to Colliford Lake for picturesque waterside strolls, ending the evening at Colliford Tavern and Lake View Restaurant and Bar. Heading North you can find Padstow or head to the beach in Polzeath and spend the day enjoying the sand, sea, and surf. Heading South you can find the beautiful towns of Fowey and Polruan; explore the wonderful shops and cafes and even try your hand at skipping your own boat. With so much to see and do nearby, The Orchard is the perfect place for an unforgettable holiday.

Situated under the western edge of granite-bound Bodmin Moor, the village of Blisland retains its age old character and is the only village in Cornwall to have a village green with trees. Around the green, cluster old houses and cottages, as well as the famous, award-winning Blisland Inn. The village is located less than three miles from the A30, and so provides an ideal central location for touring Cornwall. Nearby, Poley’s Bridge marks the beginning of the Camel Trail, a 17-mile long route, which follows a long disused old steam engine railway line to Padstow. The route is completely traffic-free and perfect for walkers and cyclists. You can even explore the trail on horseback and a purpose-built hide has been constructed between Wadebridge and Padstow, so even birdwatchers are catered for! Pull on your walking boots and explore Bodmin Moor, or venture to the coast with your buckets and spades and enjoy a day on one of the many beautiful beaches that stretch along Cornwall’s northern coastline. A fabulous part of the country for all!

Very quiet and peaceful location. Couple of minor niggles it would be nice to have hand towels. Back door needs adjustment and toilet seats loose. Overall very good.

  • Lucy

Lovely location overlooking the hills with some good dog walks nearby and within a 1 hour drive to most places we visited on the coast including St Ives. I would have no hesitation returning.

Easy to access all the parts of Cornwall we wanted to visit on this occasion. Really high standard of accommodation. We didn't want for anything and felt completely at home. We would love to come back someday. Our 2yr old lab enjoyed chasing the ball in the generous back garden.
