Bay Tree is a beautiful, detached bungalow situated in a rural location near the coastal village of Crackington Haven, in an area of outstanding natural beauty. Bay tree has been recently refurbished and furnished to a high standard throughout, making for a peaceful yet practical holiday accommodation for guests to enjoy.

Arriving at the property, beyond the white wooden gates there is ample space for parking two cars on the gravel driveway. The main front door is to the left side of the house and on entering guests find themselves in the enclosed porch, a great space for taking off and storing coats and shoes as well as providing access to the rear garden. This area then leads into the well-equipped kitchen with a door leading to a separate toilet and utility room housing the washing machine. The spacious open plan living/dining room is accessed via the kitchen and with plenty of seating, Smart TV and wood burner, this is a fantastic place to relax and unwind at the end of a long day out. From the living area double doors lead into the master bedroom which has a 6ft 3in long super kingsize bed with zip and link flexibility, so can be separated into two single beds on request. This room is bright and airy, as are all of the rooms at Bay Tree and benefits from an en-suite bathroom with bath and shower attachment.

From the master bedroom guests can access both the front garden with pleasant patio and seating area next to the parking area, as well as the rear garden. A second smaller bedroom is accessed off the lounge with kingsize bed, en-suite shower room and a sliding door leading out onto the rear garden. In-between this bedroom and the master bedroom there is a useful office space, whether guests are looking to catch up some work while away or just sit down and plan the adventures ahead. The office area also leads out onto the rear garden.

The best way to describe the rear garden is as tranquil, as this lovely area feels secluded with a variety of shrubs, bushes and trees surrounding the perimeter. There is a patio area closest to the property with dining table and chair seating for some al-fresco breakfasts or a late-night bottle of wine and cheese board and the rest of the garden is lawned.

The compact third bedroom is to be found in a separate annexe very close to the house with its own private entrance from the garden. A sliding patio door leads into the bedroom containing a double bed and an en-suite walk in shower room. This set-up works very well for guests that may want a bit of extra privacy from the main house, while still being just steps away. There is a door on the far end of the ‘annexe’ for guests to access a storage room containing tumble drier, deck chairs etc.

There is so much for guests to see and do nearby, Crackington Haven beach lies at the bottom of the hill being just a 5 minute drive away, with Boscastle, Tintagel and Bude all within easy driving distance. Whatever the reason for visiting the area, Bay Tree is a fantastic place to start.

Bedroom 3 is separate from the main house, in the Garden Annex.

A well equipped well located property with many many things going for it. Excellent decor, well equipped kitchen, comfy beds, plenty of cutlery etc, great appliances, spotlessly clean, plenty of thoughtful things like lots of hangers, bins in bedrooms, hooks, drawers and wardrobe space. Great boot room area, utility, annexe storage and study. Spacious main two bedrooms. Useful parking. Good safety features. Useful house and local information. We enjoyed the welcome pack of a cake , jam and tea and coffee bags. You may wish to take dishwasher tablets (three were provided)and dishcloths for wiping etc(one was provided )and washing up liquid for stuff that won’t go in the dishwasher (a 20ml bottle was provided). The tablecloth needed changing more than once in our stay but we didn’t find a spare. May be our fault for not finding it..There are three bathrooms but in practice as a family of five we only used one shower because in bedroom 1 there is a bath and no shower screen -so not practical without drenching the bathroom. Baths take a long time and use a lot of hot water so we prefer not to use them daily-just a personal preference. Good if you bring babies and toddlers though. The shower in the annexe was very weak and it was hard to control the temperature. There are no windows in the bedrooms that can be opened for ventilation so you have to leave a door to the garden open if it’s warm. Maybe with summer weight duvets it might be ok but we found it warm at night sometimes even with the en suite door and window open- in March. Conversely, the house was very cold on our arrival so we had to put the heating on. It would be useful to have a mirror near an electrical socket for hair drying in bedroom 1. The tv is very small for everyone to watch though adequate but the signal is poor on live tv -it often pixelates. We found the wifi was fine. If you come with young children it’s worth bearing in mind that they might want or need to be in a bedroom in the main house rather than than at the other side of the (very nice and well equipped enclosed garden) in the smallest annexe room so they would be right by the tv and the sitting area in the evening. It’s a bit complicated having a separate building with a bedroom in it as regards keys etc and making sure people had access to the main house whilst keeping things secure. We had a lovely holiday in north Cornwall where the beaches and coastline are stunning. There was so much to love about Bay Tree Cottage but a few things to consider.
