After dinner, make the most of Coastal Haven’s outdoor games room, which houses a pool table, table football, and a darts board – perfect for groups that enjoy a bit of friendly competition. When the evening draws to a close, venture back inside, where you can wash off the day in either the bathroom or shower room before choosing between four bedrooms in the main house: a king-size, a double, a twin, and a double bunk room, ideal for catching up on your sleep. Further along, you can explore Tintagel, the legendary home of King Arthur, and the magnificent ruins of Tintagel Castle, which boast breathtaking views across the sea. Venturing in the opposite direction, you can visit Widemouth Bay Beach and Summerleaze Beach, where you’ll find an array of watersports and Bude Sea Pool for a spot of wild swimming. Crackington Haven is a charming cove near Boscastle, with a mix of rockpools, a sandy beach and good surf. There are two beach shops and cafes, which are wonderful to relax in and look out over the blue seas of the bay. Walking this section of the South West Coast Path, much of it owned by the National Trust, offers dramatic views, a host of wildflowers and an undulating terrain. Just along the coast is the quaint village of Boscastle, with gift shops, local restaurants and pubs offering good food, Cornish real ales and live entertainment by local musicians, making this an ever-popular visitor destination. The sandy Trebarwith Strand beach is within a short drive, as are the surfing beaches at Bude and Polzeath. Close at hand lies Tintagel, swathed in the legend of King Arthur, as well as several stately homes and renowned gardens, or the wide open space of Bodmin Moor, famous for its granite tors and Daphne Du Maurier’s Jamaica Inn.
