Nestled in a stunning, tranquil location on the fringes of Crackington Haven, discover Higher Hill House. This wonderful holiday home was previously the main farmhouse for the surrounding fields, the remains of the farming history can still be spotted today with the old dairy holes in the snug and the hay loft for animal food above the utility room; a truly unique and characterful setting for families looking to explore the wonders of Cornwall. Today the dog-friendly, white-washed cottage benefits from an enclosed front and rear garden, an array of charming original features including exposed beams, original slate flag stone flooring and A-frames and a fantastic location with easy access to both the beautiful coast and rolling countryside.
Cross the threshold into your new home-from-home and venture into the sitting room where the crackling woodburning stove makes this the heart of the home. Unwind here before stepping into the fully-equipped kitchen where you can rustle up tasty meals that the whole family can enjoy in the spacious dining room that was once the barn for animals! On sunny takes, why not indulge in an alfresco affair by taking the meal outdoors or firing up the barbecue? When the evening draws to a close, wash off the day’s adventures in either the bathroom or ground-floor shower room before sloping off to sleep in one of five bedrooms.
Choose from two king-sizes, a double, twin, or ground-floor king-size. During the day head to the centre of Crackington Haven where you can roam the breath-taking shoreline, admire spectacular views across the sea or embark on a scenic walk on the South West Coast path which spans an impressive 630 miles! The picturesque village of Boscastle lies nearby; explore its harbour or the site of Bottreaux Castle or continue to Bude, where a vast array of independent shops, restaurants and pubs can be enjoyed including Life's A Beach and Sea Fever. Here you can also explore The Castle Bude, bask in stunning sea views from Compass Point or test out the waters at Bude Sea Pool, a semi-natural tidal pool perfect for wild swimming on the fringes of the Atlantic Ocean.
Alternatively, stray inland to discover the idyllic Bodmin Moors as well as Bodmin Jail Attraction before brushing up on the area’s history at Bodmin Town Museum. All this and more awaits at Higher Hill House!
Near Boscastle, you'll find the charming cove of Crackington Haven, which features both a sandy beach and a mix of rockpools and good surf. There are two shops and cafes on the beach where you can buy souvenirs and refreshments while taking in the stunning views of the bay's turquoise waters. The National Trust owns a large portion of this stretch of the South West Coast Path, which makes for some interesting scenery, a profusion of wildflowers, and undulating ground. Boscastle, a picturesque fishing village not far from the coast, is a favourite stop for tourists thanks to its abundance of unique shops, excellent restaurants, and lively pubs that serve Cornish real ales and feature the music of local artists. Bude and Polzeath, two popular surfing destinations, and the sandy beaches of Bossiney and Trebarwith Strand are easily accessible. Tintagel, cloaked in King Arthur lore, is not far away, and neither is the open space of Bodmin Moor, known for its granite tors and Daphne Du Maurier's Jamaica Inn.

The house was very well equipped and met our needs perfectly. We had a problem with the shower that the owner fixed straight away - a great response. Local maps and guides in the property, as well as the ownersâ recommendations were very helpful too.

The house was full of character and worked brilliantly for a large family to stay. The owner was lovely and addressed any issues promptly and efficiently. The area is stunning- we would love to stay here again!

One of our family has mobility problems so we chose this property because of its ground floor accommodation but when we arrived we found two deep steps to get to the downstairs toilet and bathroom which were almost impossible and severely restricted their use by this person. Some other holiday companies have an accessibility rating of their properties, that would far better than just saying ground floor accommodation because in this case it was not a true description. I have booked holidays with you for years and this is the first time I have had any problems, usually the cottages we have booked have been even better than we expected so it was very disappointing to find this cottage was not what we hoped for.
