Guests say

Guests consistently praise The Stable at Lee Barton Farm for its cleanliness, tranquil rural setting, and welcoming hosts. The property's proximity to beaches and Bude makes it an ideal spot for exploring Cornwall. Comfortable beds and well-equipped kitchens add to the enjoyable stay, with the added charm of farm life and occasional treats like fresh milk.

Reviews frequently commend the property for its spotless condition and cleanliness, with several guests specifically noting the clean towels and bedding.

The property's location is highly appreciated for its peaceful rural setting, proximity to beaches and the town of Bude, despite some comments on narrow access roads.

The majority of guests find the beds comfortable and the property well-furnished, though a few mention issues with water pressure and one comment on a short bed for taller guests.

Facilities are generally well-regarded, especially the well-equipped kitchens. However, some guests mention minor issues with maintenance such as the shower temperature, water pressure, and a non-functioning oven.

While guests often mention receiving a warm welcome and sometimes finding treats like fresh milk and biscuits, there are not enough references to consistently provided gifts to accurately score thoughtfulness.

About this property

The Stable, once part of the original farmhouse at Lee Barton Farm is a pretty ivy clad, stone building and offers lovely long views of the surrounding countryside and is just 5.5 miles from the Centre of Bude. Step inside to a comfortable sitting room with relaxing sofas, a dining area and a fully equipped kitchen to prepare family meals. There are two bedrooms; a double and twin room, which share a family bathroom. The cottage opens onto a large lawned garden ideal for relaxing at the end of a long day exploring this popular area. Great for families or friends looking for a quiet peaceful holiday, yet close to the beach.

Kilkhampton is an historic Cornish village, 4 miles from the popular Victorian seaside resort of Bude, one of Cornwall’s premier holiday locations. With its old church, village shops and atmospheric village pubs, Kilkhampton is a lovely place to relax after a hard day exploring the stunning beaches and spectacular coastal scenery for which the area is famous. Bude’s beaches attract surfers from all over the country and when conditions are right you’d be hard pushed to find better surf. When the tide is out, miles of golden sand and hundreds of rock pools keep visitors occupied for hours. The South West Coast Path, and many other rights-of-way winding over the clifftops and through lush green fields looking out over the sea, make this area a haven for walkers and lovers of the open countryside. For those who prefer staying closer to home, a good shopping centre and a selection of pubs, two clubs and restaurants are on offer. Bude canal, a registered nature reserve, passes through the town, and rowing a boat along its calm waters or walking the towpath among the beautiful (and friendly) water fowl that live among the reeds is a great way to spend an hour or two. Within the area there are also 2 golf courses, an indoor swimming pool, bowling alley at the leisure centre. A perfect location for all that North Cornwall has to offer.

Mr and Mrs Hobbs, the owners, were friendly and very welcoming. We enjoyed the large communal garden and local walks. Bude is a great little town. We spent time swimming in the sea pool, surfing off Summerleaze and Crooklets and shopping. The ice cream shop was awesome!

The family at the farm were very helpful and nothing was too much trouble.

It’s in an idyllic setting, the surrounding views are breathtaking and it’s a lovely place to rest and enjoy the small things. This was our first holiday as a family of 3 and I will forever hold special memories of our stay. Hosts were lovely and friendly and were very accommodating to all needs. The one thing I would mention is the thickness of the duvet, we were exceptionally hot in the front bedroom (at night it was 25 degrees in there so warmer than outside) and we had a 15 tog duvet. We used the sheet for the first few nights because of how hot it was but when the weather cooled down the sheet was too cool. The hosts gave us blankets which kept us a nice temperature but having a thinner duvet for summertime would be really helpful. The bed was very comfortable other than the heat. Thanks for a truly lovely week. I loved waking to listening to the birds and cows, what a beautiful alarm clock. We hope to be back!
