Guests say

Crofty's Celder is a well-maintained property with a welcoming host, offering a comfortable and private space ideal for exploring Cornwall. While some guests found the car access challenging and the lighting inadequate, the cleanliness and location were generally appreciated. The property is particularly noted for its proximity to the train station and suitability for visiting nearby areas.

The property is consistently described as clean, with only a minor mention of a rusty serving spoon. The high standard of cleanliness is a recurring compliment among guests.

The location is praised for its convenience for touring and proximity to the train station. However, some guests found the surrounding area depressing and the car access difficult due to narrow roads.

Guests enjoyed a comfortable bed and a sense of privacy, but there were complaints about an uncomfortable couch and low settee, suggesting room for improvement in the comfort of the living area.

Facilities are generally adequate, with some concerns about inadequate freezer space, lighting needing to be on at all times, and issues with shower drainage. The property is described as well-maintained overall.

While guests found the hosts to be welcoming and thoughtful, there is no mention of gifts or special amenities that would indicate the level of thoughtfulness in terms of extra touches. Therefore, a score cannot be provided.

We found the directions to Crofty’s Calder confusing and had to ring the owners who confused us further! We resorted to parking then walking to locate the cottage. Care is needed in negotiating the narrow entrance drive - you either drive in forwards and reverse out or vice-versa - turning round is not an option. The cottage was very clean and perfect for our needs but if you intend to fully self-cater (I.e. cook full meals) you may struggle as the fridge is a bit small and there aren’t that many pots and pans. Our biggest bug bear was drying damp towels. There is no heated towel rail in the shower room so we had to hang them on the radiators in the hope the heating came on (more on that in a minute). There is an electric radiator that once we worked out how to operate it we used to dry the towels. There is no way to control the heating which seemed to come on at random times like 9pm but who needs heating on at bed time? Also the shower is a long way from the boiler and hot water took an age to get to the sink and shower. Even then, it wasn’t very hot despite the boiler control being set at max.Although the above makes the cottage sound terrible, it isn’t. It was more than adequate for us and we enjoyed our stay. If some of these niggles were attended to, it would simply improve the cottage.

The accommodation was clean and comfortable. The location was ideal for our touring. Car access for parking is quite challenging. Fridge with small compartment freezer was not adequate for our needs for a weeks stay. Uncomfortable couch. Generally the property was average but would not return again. Many thanks for Tim accepting our Amazon delivery for us.

Lovely studio apartment in a perfect location for exploring the southernmost part of Cornwall. Really nice and private - felt like completely our own space which was great so we could come and go as we pleased. The hosts were very friendly and left a visitor book with lots of info and recommendations in which was so helpful. Thanks for a great stay, we would definitely stay again!
