It is not a 3 star its not even a 1 star by the companys own definitions. Ive never had such a bad stay or bad customer service. I also tried complaining during my stay and my complaints went unheard. Sykes said they would pass my complaint onto the owner but they didnt or at least the owner claimed they didnt. Then at the end of the stay Sykes finally informed me that my contract is held directly with the owner and not with Sykes so they couldnt do anything about it other than pass my messages on. Be very careful when booking as Sykes will claim absolutely no responsibility if there are any issues. The property is unsafe. Despite being closely monitored at the time by the grandparents our two year old fell off the decking into a bed of stinging nettles that were in the middle of the main outside social area around the hot tub. The garden was a mess and clearly hadnt been properly tended in a long time. Even worse we had to move my daughter out of her room after one of the light fittings fell off to reveal exposed wires. The games room has unsafe equipment in it that my daughter almost trapped her hand in despite her being supervised. The outside courtyard has bolts that my little boy cut his toe on. The dishwasher set alight and almost caused a fire. The property is in a bad shape and to make matters worse the standard of cleaning was shocking. If I could upload photos here I would. There was blood on a first aid kit in a draw in the kitchen that was also down the cabinets. Cleaning equipment was left in the main house. Everything was dusty and dirty, including all the crockery. My biggest bugbear was the heating. It was stuck permanently on with seemingly no way to turn it off or down and we stayed during the hottest week of the year so far. The taps also leaked continuously. The only positive I can give it is the fact there was unexpectedly a swimming pool that we were able to use which wasnât advertised in the listing. Ive never given such a bad review for a property because Ive never had such a bad experience. If the owner had at least turned the heating down like we asked so my son and daughter could sleep then we wouldnt have felt so bad and run down about the whole experience. But all our complaints went completely unanswered.

Lots to do indoors and everything you need outdoor is a 5-10 min walk. Itâs a shame about access to the swimming pool and it being used whilst we were there. We werenât too fussed in all honesty, but just the principle of it. Control of the heating would have helped our stay, it was rather warm of lot of the time. But we had a cosy and warm welcome. All in all, a great stay!
