About this property

The Slipway Fowey Harbour with Garden is a delightful Victorian house resting in the heart of Fowey, Cornwall, occupying an enviable waterside position opposite the historic Passage Slip and offering far-reaching harbour views from several rooms and the terraced garden. Sleeping six guests across three floors, this characterful property is ideal for families, friends, and those eager to experience one of Cornwall’s most picturesque coastal towns. Step inside to discover an open-plan living and dining space, where large windows frame the activities of the harbour beyond, from passing yachts to the Bodinnick ferry crossing the estuary. Settle down after a day of exploring with your favourite programme on the TV or simply enjoy the ever-changing river views.

To the rear, the kitchen is equipped with everything required for a self-catered stay, making it easy to prepare breakfasts before a day of adventure or relaxed evening meals together. The first floor hosts a king-size bedroom with captivating river views and a twin room, served by a shower room with walk-in shower, basin, and WC. Venture to the second floor to find a spacious king-size bedroom with a sofa and elevated views across the estuary towards Ferryside, once home to Daphne du Maurier. Outside, the property continues to impress with a front terrace where you can sit and watch life unfold on the water, while the elevated rear garden offers a wonderful setting for alfresco dining with views stretching over the harbour and surrounding countryside.

A pleasant walk brings you into the centre of Fowey, where you will find a selection of shops, pubs, cafés, and restaurants. Visit nearby Lostwithiel to explore Restormel Castle, independent boutiques, and the River Fowey walks, or head to Looe for its bustling harbour, sandy beach, and boat trips. Alternatively, discover St Austell, home to Charlestown Harbour, the Shipwreck Treasure Museum, and access to the Cornish coast. Attractions within easy reach include the Eden Project with its famous biomes, the Lost Gardens of Heligan with extensive grounds and woodland trails, and Polperro, a charming fishing village known for its narrow lanes and maritime heritage.

Guests can also launch a paddleboard or kayak directly from the nearby slipway or hire equipment from Caffa Mill to explore the estuary from the water. The Slipway Fowey Harbour with Garden provides a memorable base for discovering Cornwall’s coastline, countryside, and historic harbour towns.

Fowey is a small town and civil parish that lies at the mouth of the River Fowey in south Cornwall. The estuary of the River Fowey forms a natural harbour, which enabled the town to become an important trading centre. There is a wealth of things to see and do in and around the harbour. Whether you enjoy getting out on the water, playing golf or finding out more about the history of the area, you are sure to find something to suit the whole family. Harbour cruises leave the Town Quay regularly in season, giving you a superb view of the town, but for the more adventurous, rent your own self-drive boat, kayak or paddle board and explore the waters for yourselves! The town is steeped in history, so why not join a guided tour of either Fowey or Polruan? You can even join an owl experience, play golf, go horse riding or pursue your artistic talents with pottery or painting courses. There is the aquarium, museum and St Catherine's Castle, as well as Readymoney Cove, all waiting to be explored. If you get peckish or fancy something thirst-quenching along the way, there is a plethora of pubs, inns, cafes and restaurants to choose from. Whenever you plan to visit, keep a lookout for the festivals, fairs, markets and theatre performances throughout the year. There are many family attractions in the area, including Mevagissey and Charlestown harbours, the Eden Project and the Lost Gardens of Heligan. Discover them all from this fantastic base!
