The cottage is equipped with a variety of facilities, including a newly fitted kitchen and a pool table, although there are mentions of minor maintenance issues. Guests have enjoyed the thoughtful touches, such as the provision of a cake and milk, contributing to a welcoming atmosphere.

The cottage is consistently described as clean and well-maintained, with guests expressing satisfaction with the level of cleanliness upon arrival. There are no significant complaints regarding cleanliness, indicating high standards are being met.

While guests appreciate the thoughtful gestures such as the provision of cake and milk, there are not enough reviews explicitly mentioning these gifts to accurately score this category. It should be noted that such gestures, while appreciated, are not guaranteed for every stay.

About this property

In Lanreath, a fine, Grade II listed, south-facing cottage over two levels, mentioned in the Domesday Book, flanked by equally ancient cottages. Step through the front door into a big hall with a wood-burning stove in its inglenook fireplace, slate floor, leather window seat and pool table; walk through glazed doors into the large living room with polished wood floor and leather sofas, then through to the fitted oak kitchen with dining table and chairs, slate floor and utility room with toilet. Head upstairs to four bedrooms: two king-size doubles, one with en suite shower-room, a twin, and a single with additional z-bed; family bathroom.

In front, there is a neat walled garden; at the back, a large, mostly lawned garden on two levels with patio (table/chairs, barbecue) which can be lit at night for romantic dining (from the back door there are 2 steps up to cobbles, then 2 further steps up to first tier of lawn and patio, and 11 slate steps up to further lawn - rope hand rail). A wonderful, well-equipped cottage in every respect with lots to see in the area including nearby popular fishing villages of Looe and Polperro. PO/shop/2 pubs within walking distance. Good walking country. Eden Project, 12 miles.

Lanreath is a village in southeast Cornwall, five miles west of Looe. Lanreath is rural in character with a local shop and Post Office as well as a parish church.

The heating was on the very lowest setting with no thermostat or instructions. There were logs but no firelighters or kindling so we couldn't light the wood burner immediately. We spent the evening wearing our coats. The kitchen was particularly cold. The plumbing was very noisy at times with a lot of shuddering from air in the system. One ring on the hob would not turn off so had to be isolated at the wall.

Very spacious for us and 4 springer spaniels. Love the addition of gate on bottom of stairs to stop dogs upstairs as our aren't allowed up stairs at home so took stress out of it. Cottage is like home from home but better. Washing machine and tumble dryer a brilliant bonus but maybe a new airer would be good as really struggled with the old one. Only thing that we would sat that would make it better for us is maybe a bench up on grass area when up there with little ones or dogs as beautiful in the sun up there and maybe some solar lights near steps as tricky when light outside goes off and you are at top of garden with dogs at bedtime with no light source, that was me lol. Fantastic place we didn't want to come home and will definitely come back.

Great outdoor space especially for the dogs. The only thing maybe worth thinking about is some sort of wall or fence around the edge of the wall where the seating area as a safety precaution if young children were staying. Would definitely stay at Samuel’s cottage again.
