Guests say

Summercourt is a well-received cottage in Cornwall, praised for its cleanliness, stunning views, and tranquil location. Guests appreciate the comfortable furnishings, well-appointed amenities, and the secure garden, ideal for dogs. While some noted minor issues with maintenance and the lack of certain conveniences, the overall sentiment is positive, with many guests planning to return.

Guests that stayed at this property said

The cottage consistently receives high marks for cleanliness, with guests describing it as clean, well-maintained, and welcoming. Only one mention of an unclean oven slightly impacts the otherwise pristine reputation.

The location is celebrated for its peace, tranquility, and beautiful views, though its remoteness and proximity to shops are noted. The scenic drives and proximity to beaches and towns are appreciated, despite some guests finding the rural roads challenging.

Guests find the cottage comfortable, with special mentions of the beds and pillows. The spacious accommodation and secure garden add to the comfort level, although suggestions for a larger bed and the provision of towels indicate room for improvement.

The facilities are generally well-regarded, with modern appliances and a dog-friendly environment. However, comments about the lack of a washing line, Wi-Fi issues, and the need for clearer instructions for appliances suggest some areas could be enhanced.

There is no mention of gifts or special thoughtful touches provided by the hosts in the reviews, so it is not possible to assess this category. Therefore, the score is set to null.

About this property

Surrounded by rolling countryside and with outstanding views to Dartmoor, Summercourt is a newly refurbished, attractive single storey cottage. In a peaceful and tranquil location on the picturesque border of Devon and Cornwall, this stylish retreat is ideal for friends or families seeking to explore the North of Cornwall with its beautiful coastline, as well as the moors of Bodmin and Dartmoor National Park. The real heart of this home away from home is the spacious kitchen/dining room where you will find everything you could possibly need during a week-long break. Glazed French doors ensure that the space is filled with natural light and offer superb, long views. With all the appliances you could want, why not prepare a home-cooked meal before catching up with the day’s events or playing cards in front of the woodburning stove at the dining table. There's a separate sitting room where you can relax on the sofa and watch your favourite TV shows. You will find two smart bedrooms; a double and a twin room, both offering tranquil spaces to retire to each evening. On summer evenings, there is no greater way to pass the time than simply sitting on the spacious patio or garden and enjoying the splendid views with a glass of something cool. Relax and spend a moment whilst your canine companions stretch their legs or rest at your feet. Within easy reach are Bodmin Moor and Dartmoor National park. Here you will find miles of walking routes amid breath-taking scenery, as well as the coastal towns of Bude, Port Isaac, Padstow, Crackington Haven, Tintagel, Boscastle and Trebarwith Strand. At Crackington Haven there is a lovely cove dominated by majestic cliffs which is suitable for swimming and surfing. There are many additional beaches nearby, some which are dog friendly all year round. If you can tear yourself away from this delightful base, venture to the town of Launceston, where you will find a selection of pubs and restaurants to enjoy, as well as a selection of shops to explore one afternoon. Within the town, you will also find the ruins of the 13th-century keep, a number of golf courses and the Steam Railway which offers 5-mile round trips on the North Cornwall line. Quiet and peaceful, Summercourt is perfect for exploring this part of Cornwall and Devon.

The pretty village of Egloskerry sits 4 miles west of Launceston, quietly resting amongst the beautiful green meadows of the upper Tamar Valley. An ideal place for those seeking the solitude of the countryside, this whole area offers an abundance of winding country lanes, wooded valleys and great wildlife spotting opportunities. The nearby reservoir at Roadford offers fishing, sailing and water sports, providing a great day out for all, whilst the Tamar Otter Park and the nearby golf course are not to be missed. With the town of Launceston, with its many shops, pubs, restaurants, ruined Norman castle and steam railway just a short drive away, as well as the beaches of North Cornwall and the wilds of Dartmoor and Bodmin Moor within easy reach, this great location has plenty to offer.

The peacefulness of the location and the stunning view is just wonderful. Plenty of space outside in the well maintained garden to relax, chill and just soak up the therapeutic calmness of the countryside and vista. Inside , it is extremely well equipped , comfortable and very clean .The quality of the appliances and contents provided are all top class and state of the art modern . Despite the lovely isolation ,its only a short 20/30 min drive in either direction to the beaches , shops and holiday attractions . Great stay and look forward to returning Geoff & Anna

Our dog really enjoyed the 360’ of garden to roam around in. The house itself is well decorated and the furniture and furnishings are of the greatest quality. The kitchen has everything you will need. We will definitely be rebooking soon. Please do not publish this section for the owners only. We found the double bed to be very low and the mattress hard. Also the flags to the front step need resetting as they are very lose and wobbly to step onto. Having no internet was no problem either. Thanks Pat & Kathy

Dog loved the garden.weather was fine. Parking facilities were excellent. The only disappointment was that there was no Wi-Fi and no DvD player plus couldn't access tv stations properly.
