Guests say

Riverview in Lostwithiel is highly praised for its ideal location, comfort, and well-equipped facilities. Guests appreciate the tranquil river setting, proximity to local attractions, and the convenience of a nearby train station. The property is described as clean, tastefully furnished, and offering a 'home from home' experience. While parking can be challenging for larger vehicles, the overall sentiment is overwhelmingly positive, with many guests eager to return.

The property generally receives high marks for cleanliness, with guests finding it well-maintained. There was a single mention of an area that required additional cleaning upon arrival, but this seems to be an isolated incident rather than a common concern.

The location is consistently lauded for its convenience and picturesque setting by the river. The proximity to the train station and local amenities, as well as easy access to Cornwall's attractions, is a highlight for many guests.

Guests find Riverview very comfortable, with ample towels, huge beds, and comfy sofas. The peaceful atmosphere and the quality of the furnishings contribute to a relaxing stay.

The property is well-equipped, with a kitchen that meets guests' needs and additional amenities like board games and a 3D TV. The mention of a new en-suite bathroom indicates recent improvements. However, some minor maintenance issues like a slow-draining shower and a flickering light switch were noted.

While the reviews reflect a high level of satisfaction with the thoughtfulness of the property's provisions, there is no specific mention of gifts. Therefore, it is not possible to score this category accurately, and guests should note that such extras, while delightful, are not guaranteed.

About this property

In the heart of picturesque Lostwithiel, this first floor duplex apartment forms part of the Brunel Quays development; Grade II listed, converted railway buildings which enjoy views of the River Fowey on one side, and overlook Lostwithiel's picket-fenced branch line on the other. With its own river-view private balcony just off the sitting room, this apartment certainly makes the most of its location! Leave the balcony doors open, let the sun shine in, and enjoy your morning coffee to the sounds of the river and cheery birdsong. Thoughtfully furnished with plenty of creature comforts, Riverview is a most comfortable home-from-home. The welcoming sitting room comes complete with a 55 inch 3D Smart television, and the modern kitchen/diner has everything the keen cook could need, with plenty of natural light.

Offering flexibility, there is also a single bedroom on the lower floor. Upstairs, there is a super king bedroom with television and en-suite shower room, a third bedroom which can be presented as either a twin or king size, and a gleaming family bathroom. A fabulous asset of this property is the mooring and slipway which can accommodate a small boat, or be used for launching a kayak. Take a stroll along the river to discover the pubs, restaurants and shops of Lostwithiel, an attractive and ancient Stannary town full of history, or jump in the car and make the short journey to the beautiful south Cornish coastline.

With hidden coves, pristine beaches and quirky waterside villages, there is much to see and do. Perfectly located for exploring this idyllic corner of the world, Riverview offers a lovely family holiday at any time of the year.

A delightfully peaceful country town, nestling in the Fowey river valley amid the woods and fields that characterise the area. Renowned as a centre for the antiques trade, there are several shops and dealers in the town, as well as a fine collection of country pubs, restaurants and a thriving farmer’s market. Lanhydrock House (NT) and gardens is just 3 miles away, while the fabulous Boconnoc House, Eden Project, shipwreck museum and tall ships harbour at Charlestown, and the picturesque fishing villages of Mevagissey, Fowey and Padstow, with the famous Rick Stein restaurants, are all within easy driving distance. The tumbling Atlantic surf, long sandy beaches and dramatic coastline of the north coast, including at the renowned Newquay, make for great days out and there is also chance to enjoy river canoeing, biking, hiking and leisurely walks in this lovely area. The friendly locals also have ongoing activities, such as the raft race, the famous tug of war, Carnival week and seagull outboard motor races. The river Fowey runs from the town on its 8 mile journey through the fields and wooded valleys to the gentler southern coast, a natural paradise for those who love the sea. Centrally placed, with much to do and see in the immediate area, Lostwithiel is the perfect choice for those seeking a break away from the hectic pace of the tourist resorts.

Very comfortable and well equipped property in a super village location. Although the weather was mixed we enjoyed doing different things in the area each day and rarely used the car as there are frequent, cheap trains available from the railway station opposite. It was a truly relaxing stay and the communication with and friendliness of our host was great at all times.

We have stopped there a number of times now and have also booked it for September coming and next May. It is like our second home. Gaynor & Ken.

Took advantage of using the train to get around for part of our stay so not needing to drive every day. Very well equipped and comfortable.
