Balcony Cottage in Cawsand is highly praised for its stunning sea views, historical charm, and excellent location. Guests appreciate the well-equipped and comfortable accommodation, with many planning to return. The village's friendly atmosphere and local amenities enhance the experience, though parking can be a minor inconvenience.
The cottage is consistently described as clean and well-maintained, with guests noting its spotlessness and fresh linen. One mention of a stained stair carpet suggests a slight deduction, but overall, the high standards of cleanliness are evident.
The location receives outstanding remarks for its proximity to the beach, local amenities, and the peaceful village setting. The sea views are a highlight, contributing to the idyllic experience of staying in Balcony Cottage.
Guests find the cottage very comfortable, with ample space and cosy beds. The presence of noise from an upstairs flat in one review suggests a minor impact on comfort for those guests, but overall, the cottage is seen as a relaxing retreat.
The cottage is praised for being well-equipped and having everything needed for a pleasant stay. However, some guests experienced issues with Wi-Fi and parking, and there were comments about the complexity of the heating controls and a non-working fan heater.
Many guests mention the thoughtful touches, such as a welcoming bottle of wine and essential supplies provided. While these gestures are appreciated, it is noted that such gifts, though delightful, may vary and are not guaranteed with every stay.
Balcony Cottage is situated in the heart of Cawsand with great 'right out to sea' views, and occupies the first two floors of a Grade II listed, 18th century cottage snuggling in with its neighbouring cottages. It has been completely renovated, exposing its fascinating history - no humble fisherman's cottage this.
Some say smuggling helped pay for its fine panelling, coving and English Delft-ware tiles.
On the ground floor there is the dining room with a great view out to sea, a fitted kitchen, a fine slate hallway and double bedroom again, with those sea views and a shower-room. Head to the back porch and you will find the door out to a suntrap courtyard.
The staircase has original Chinoiserie panels and leads to the living room with handsome ornamental fireplace, and stunning ship-watching view. At this level you will find two more bedrooms - a king-size double with more great views, and a twin and then just a few stairs up to a family bathroom.
A delightful cottage in every way.
Catch the seasonal foot ferry to Plymouth from the beach which is a minutes' stroll away, and enjoy that fine city's historic waterfront.

This was our 11th time staying in a cottage within Kingsand and Cawsand. Definitely one of the better ones we have stayed at. Would use again.

Lovely views, beautifully restored old Georgian property, very comfortable and right in the heart of the village.

Only negatives were the passageway and courtyard were scruffy and needed maintenance and a good sweep and tidy up. The padlock on the passageway door was falling apart and the fan heater in the downstairs shower room didnât work.
