This pretty cottage sleeps five people and two dogs and is situated in one of the most delightful villages in South Cornwall. Dowr Penty in the village of Helford oozes character yet is very comfortable with a woodburning stove for cooler evenings, a lovely courtyard garden with a barbecue for balmy summer evening al-fresco meals, two parking spaces and is located just moments away from the stunning Helford River. On the ground floor, there is a living room (with the woodburner), a separate dining room, well-equipped kitchen and useful shower room. Upstairs, there is another bathroom with a shower over the bath, along with the three bedrooms. Dowr Penty is very close to the well-known thatched pub – The Shipwrights Arms and a well-equipped village store providing you with everything that you need during your stay.

When we arrived there was water running down the road outside clearly not a new problem. The water pressure in the cottage was really low and you could hear the constant running of water to fill the tank. I am not sure how the housekeeping team could not notice this. We reported it and a plumber came but it did mean we had no water for anything for a while and no shower. This was followed by no hot water the next day so two days disrupted. The plumber was great and not his fault but I think all this could have been avoided. It did upset our week.

Dowr Penty is a beautifully presented property in a prime location in the pretty village of Helford. It also benefits from a parking area which is a real bonus. We have quite a large vehicle but could have easily got a smaller car in the space too. A nice quiet sitting out area is located behind the parking spaces by the small stream. The cottage had everything provided we could possibly need. The kitchen is fabulous and is very well equipped, clean with modern appliances. Instructions are provided in a folder on how to work everything which is very helpful. The upstairs bathroom is fabulous but there is also the added bonus of a downstairs wet room with shower, loo and wash basin. The bed was extremely comfortable and the linen and towels provided were spotlessly clean. The cottage is a credit to its owners and the people who make it ready for the guests each week. This is a highly recommended property.

A delightful cottage, well equipped and comfortable. Lovely location.
