Cartway Cove is a well-loved cottage in Cornwall, praised for its stunning views, superb location, and well-equipped kitchen. Guests have enjoyed the beautiful garden, the convenience of parking, and the addition of an ensuite. The property's proximity to coastal walks and local restaurants adds to its charm. While some guests have noted issues with cleanliness and maintenance, these do not detract from the overall positive experiences and many express a desire to return.
Some guests reported cleanliness issues such as dirty pillows, food remnants, and cobwebs. However, these instances seem isolated and did not significantly impact the overall satisfaction.
The location is consistently lauded for its spectacular sea views, proximity to Port Isaac, and access to coastal walks, making it a highly desirable aspect of the property.
The majority of guests found the cottage comfortable, particularly praising the upstairs bedroom and ensuite. Some noted that the other bedrooms were less comfortable but still adequate.
Facilities are generally well-received, with a well-equipped kitchen and outdoor eating area. However, there are mentions of maintenance issues such as frying pans needing replacement and a malfunctioning dishwasher tablet compartment.
There are no specific mentions of gifts or special touches that would indicate thoughtfulness. Therefore, this score cannot be provided.
Cartway Cove is a beautiful, self-catering home perched on the clifftop overlooking Port Gaverne and Port Isaac, enjoying spectacular views of the coast and sea. Perfect for a family of seven, with ground-floor living, ideal for those with limited mobility, Cartway Cove offers everything you need for a memorable adventure to Cornwall. Walk through the hallway to discover a light and bright open-plan kitchen, living and dining room, with plenty of space for cooking, enjoying a meal around the dining table or sitting and conversing on the plush sofas. When the sun is shining, you’ll want to spend the majority of your time outdoors, either on the wooden balcony that leads off from the patio doors by the kitchen, or at the wooden table on the slate patio, positioned to make best use of the sea and coastal views. The ground-floor is home to two bathrooms, a useful utility room, and two bedrooms, one offering a twin bed layout, able to be a super-king-size on request thanks to zip/link beds, and the other being a family room with a double and a single bed, ideal for catering to a number of different groups. There is one further bedroom upstairs on the first floor, offering a very spacious area with a king-size bed, wooden rocking chair, and en-suite bathroom. There are lots of good restaurants in Port Isaac and any seafood fans should visit top chef Nathan Outlaw’s New Road or Outlaw’s Fish Kitchen, with many of the produce being the local catch of the Port Isaac fishing boats. Wander the delightful harbour and embark on scenic jaunts along the South West Coast Path, perfect for simple strolls or a more energetic ramble. The surrounding area is full of places to visit, with the nearby town of Wadebridge offering a wider selection of amenities, and various family friendly attractions just a scenic drive away including Camel Creek Adventure Park, Doyden Castle, and Polzeath Beach. Venture up to Padstow to visit the National Lobster Hatchert and Prideaux Place, or enjoy a Padstow Sea Safari. Make the most of this stunning Cornish location with your loved ones at Cartway Cove.
Port Isaac; one of the true Cornish treasures. A beautiful fishing village nestling in a steep sided valley, the old village in the valley remains unchanged from its days of fishing, slate export and smuggling in the previous century. An abundance of small character properties complemented by larger cliff-top retreats, can be found with easy access to the numerous restaurants and shops of the village. The sandy harbour provides an abundance of rock pools as the tide retreats. Only ten minutes drive from the beaches of Polzeath, Daymer and Rock, it is perfect for romantic and family holidays alike. There is ample parking at the top of the village.

However, a couple of things we were slightly disappointed with. Firstly, when paying premium rates for the summer holidays, I don't believe it right we should have to provide our own towels and bedding. Not just that, but when we arrived the last people's bedding was on the doorstep and ours was no-where to be seen. We had paid an additional cost to hire bedding and I then spent the first hour of my holiday frantically trying to contact people to find out what had happened before offices closed for the weekend at 5pm. Eventually our bedding arrived and we then had to make all the beds! Again, when paying a lot of money for a week's stay, I don't see how this can be justified. Also, the tap was leaking in the kitchen and there was a loose slab in the garden as well. There was a Maintenance Man there when we first arrived but these don't appear to have been looked at. Overall we had a brilliant week as always, and it wouldn't put us off staying again, but these are points I wanted to mention.

Thoughtfully equipped and tastefully decorated, with some beautiful art. Special mention for the wonderfully powerful shower. Ground floor bedroom and stunning views from open plan living room were a bonus with a less able mother in law. Perfectly placed a short walk from relatively bustling Port Isaac and its tasty restaurants but far enough away to feel secluded. Scenic coastal path is literally on the doorstep, whilst quiet Port Gaverne allows an outdoor drink at pub or award winning restaurant, with sheltered cove for rock jumping or SUP with the teenagers at high tides. All in all a wonderful week, so we will be back. Thank you
