About this property

Perched on the cliff in Port Isaac, The Old Coastguard is a super, contemporary, reverse-level holiday home in Cornwall. With vast sea views stretching from Lobber Point to Tintagel and beyond, this property is perfect for families, dog owners, and groups of friends looking for a Cornish coastal getaway. On arrival, off-road parking greets you, and welcomes you into the entrance hall with plenty of storage for coats and shoes. Head straight up to the first floor, which is sure to be the social hub of the house, due to its stunning, light-filled open-plan living space. Magnificent, panoramic views make this holiday home stand out from the rest; sink into the huge L-shape sofa, admire the sea views, and be mesmerised by the swell of the ocean. Dining seating for six guests makes this a unique space to plan your day's adventures, while the group's chef uses the sleek fitted kitchen to prepare a delicious meal. Completing this floor is a cloakroom and a larder with lots of room to store your holiday treats and ingredients. On the ground floor, a super-king-size bed rests in the largest bedroom with a very spacious en-suite bathroom with freestanding bath and walk-in shower, giving you the option of a long pampering soak after a day on the beach or a quick shower before your next excursion. A snug twin room with dressing table and built-in wardrobe has a shower room right next to it, and heading down a few steps, there is another super-king-size bed with lovely coastal and garden views, and an attractive en-suite shower room for extra privacy. Outside, the enclosed front garden may steal the show; with sunken seating, well-maintained flower beds, and an uninterrupted view of the picture-perfect coastlines, you'll never want to leave your new home-away-from-home. When you are ready to venture out and explore, a wooden gate in the garden leads you straight onto the coastal path leading to Port Isaac harbour or to Port Gaverne beach. Follow the path as far as you wish, perhaps to Port Quin, a beautiful sheltered cove, lovely for a dip at high tide on a calm day. The area has a selection of excellent restaurants to choose from, including Outlaw's New Road, The Angry Anchovy pizza, The Mote or Port Gaverne Hotel; Fresh from the Sea make delicious crab sandwiches. Polzeath is a stunning resort within easy reach, a huge beach, wonderful for surfing, boogie-boarding or digging sandcastles. The Old Coastguard Lookout is an idyllic vacation spot where you can make memories that will last a lifetime.

Port Isaac, a real Cornish gem. The historic village in the valley remains intact from its preceding century of fishing, slate export and smuggling. There are many modest character residences and larger cliff-top getaways within walking distance of the village's restaurants and stores. As the tide recedes, the sandy harbour is dotted with rock pools. Only 10 minutes from Polzeath, Daymer and Rock beaches, it is ideal for couples and families.

An really clever use of the plot with the house making full use of the views out to sea. The level of finish and detail in the property was first class, as were all the furnishings. We couldn't fault the property in any way and will definitely look to book again as soon as we can. A really enjoyable stay.
